Do you think this team will just give up...the players involve have to feel a sense of disloyalty especially with the parameters of the trade..Gallo,and chandler are young and have no clue..felton is a little older but i still think it will effect him..

Then Amare (trying to answer questions politically correct) pretty much said melo make us a better team...his co-captin is involve in these trade rumors, and it's also his PG..

None of these players are locked in for more then another season at best..
We saw first hand How lame duck playerys respond as individules

The Knicks held practice today, and reporters had to dig in to get some information about trade talk. Here are a few news and notes from the Twitter feeds.

■Amar’e Stoudemire did not make it to practice coming off his All-Star Game appearance. The last time Stoudemire missed a workout, the Knicks lost seven of eight games.
■Two men highly intertwined with trade talks, Raymond Felton and Wilson Chandler, both avoided the media by walking out the side doors post-practice. They didn’t take any questions, and with their involvement in the Melo Drama, it seems they will be shipped out of New York to Denver or New Jersey by the trade deadline.
■Danilo Gallinari did not avoid the media and instead answered questions on his pending involvement in trade talks. When asked about getting sent to Denver or to the Nets, he said: “It’s tough, but it’s the NBA life.”
■When asked about his preference in terms of trading for three starters, Knicks head coach Mike D’Antoni said: “There’s no use in me answering stuff like that.” Completely understandable.
■Similarly, D’Antoni was asked if his players were on edge. He responded saying that “you have to be. I was talking to Raymond before, his phone blew up over the weekend”.
■Current starting center Timofey Mozgov was told he was the most important player in the NBA because he was the man holding up the trade. He responded saying “thank you!” Awesome dude.
■Donnie Walsh was at practice, but did not talk to the media.

I think the players for the most part don't want to go, so they will actually be very happy to continue on and I think they will bond more and finish trying to prove that they can get it done. I actually don't fear not making the deal, cuz it's not like we have a horrible team and situation if we stand pat. I believe Donnie would proceed with plan C and find other moves to improve the team. I think Donnie is always prepared with another deal.

If this trade does not happen, it will be the BEST THING FOR THE KNICKS. We can resign Chandler or trade him this summer and look to add a Marc Gasol. A sign and trade of Timmy M. and Chandler for Gasol and O.J. Mayo would be a great trade for us. We then would still be in position to sign Paul or Deron the following summer by using Felton's salary. We might have to move another contract or two, but we should be able to give them close to a max deal. Deron, Fields, Gallo, Amare, and Gasol, with Douglas, Mayo, Williams, Barron on the bench is a formiable team.

Not something I had not thought about, and a good observation.

Amare should stay quiet, by the way.

Until the trade goes down he should be saying "that he likes the team he's on now, and loves his mates, but understands that the game is a business and trades happen."

Not a smart statement for him to make, even if true.

How is this the best thing for the Knicks when Melo is a definite upgrade over anything we have. He gives us the second option/and half court scorer we dont have when the pace slows down the paint clogs around Amare.

.

Great for us and bad for Memphis. Besides they have already put it out there that signing Gasol is a top priority of thiers.

We then would still be in position to sign Paul or Deron the following summer by using Felton's salary.

So we would strike out on Lebron in the summer of 10. Strike out on Melo in the winter of 11 and now you want to go after Paul and or Williams and watch them flirt with us then leave us standing at the alter like the others have? When is enough enough?

We might have to move another contract or two, but we should be able to give them close to a max deal. Deron, Fields, Gallo, Amare, and Gasol, with Douglas, Mayo, Williams, Barron on the bench is a formiable team.

Easier said than done.
