Papabear Says

Something is very illegal about this whole Nets and Denver deal from the begining. Denver is hell bent on stopping Melo from coming to New York. Now this third deal with the Nets is something Denver and the Nets planned all along and if this does not work I believe they have a doomsday plan. The Knicks should file an unfair practice against the Nets and Denver and the punishment should be that if Melo does not sign with anyone by the 24th he will be assured of his 65 million at end of season by any team he goes to outside of the new league deal.

Dude you can't fall for someone's bluff and then ask for justice. If the Knicks feel the Nets and Nuggets are colluding they need to call their bluff and live with the way the cards fall.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

It is a pretty crazy situation. A Denver reporter on the Fan just said that he thinks some second round picks are going to be included in the trade.

Fair trade? The Knicks are totally lowballing the Nuggets. Lets analyze the proposed trade:

Felton, Gallinari, Chandler, Curry, and a #1
for
Melo, Billups, Williams, and Carter/Balkman

Curry, Williams, and Carter/Balkman are all throwaways - salary dumps that won't be with either team come next year.
Regardless of whether the Knicks trade for Melo or sign him during the offseason, with Melo on the team Chandler wouldn't be back next year for salary cap purposes.
Felton for Billups is essentially a wash - PG for PG (granted Billups is older and more expensive).

That means the core of this trade is Gallinari and a #1 for Melo. Talk about a steal. Even including Mazgov (making it Gallinari, Mazgov and a #1 for Melo) is still pretty much raping the Nuggets. Either way, the Knicks get the better end of the deal.

huh? since Knicks would not have signed Chandler he has no value at all in trade? that makes no sense, if Knicks wanted to deal just Chandler many teams would want him for the stretch run and possibly to own his RFA rights

Let's hope so bro..Ever nickel's gonna count now..I know it doesn't look like much but I'm so pissed about this Balkman thing for some reason..I don't think this should've been part of the deal. Like everyone's been telling us the whole time down the stretch here -- we should've flipped it back on DEN and TOLD THEM, 'we're not taking Balkman's salary..You guys gonna lets that stop this deal'??
