on average each percentage point increase in Felton’s TS% increases Stoudemire’s TS% by 0.24 points. In other words, the more efficiently Felton scores, the better Amaré is. If Felton can’t prove to them that he is a dangerous shotmaker, they lay off of him and commit to keeping Stoudemire out of the paint. The statistics bear this out: Stoudemire is taking a lot more shots out of isolation plays. Last year in Phoenix, 61% of his baskets came off assists. This year, only 48% of them do. also, for those concerned with too many 3's, they illustrate how if the team hits 37% then the offense is potent. also raises thoughts about what the team might look like with billups and melo, if such a deal happens. melo would have to adapt his game a bit, but he also might be highly effective since he can shoot and is a supreme finisher around the rim. as for billups, we'd lose quickness that helps in some of the situations where defenses use strategies to stop SSL, but his improved shooting ability could really bring the team together. mostly, the quickness issue would seem to me to not be as big of a deal because he just has to be quicker than bigs. will he be better at the pick and roll, and who is the better passer, is also something worth wondering, comparing the two. Forum Po Po and #33 for a reason...
