I cannot believe that Walsh (presumably financially independent and two month from contract termination) would sit back and let the spoiled brat negotiate this transactions with the snail oil saleman from Florida and not resign. It is almost incomprehensable that he would permit himself to be put on the back burner away from the deal.

Sit back? Dolan owns the team. He can do whatever he wants.

I agree with Sage. The crucial point was "and not resign."

Donnie ran Indiana. Donnie don't take no mess.

Of course he does (actually his family controls) but if I were in Walsh's position and the deal was, in actuality, being controlled by Dolan/Thomas without my approval I would announce my resignation effective immmediately and still walk away with the respect of the basketball world.

He's not going to resign immediately. He's classier than that and showing up Dolan.

If he's angry he will just leave at the end of the season.

It has nothing to do with showing up Dolan, it's self respect. That is why i believe he's still pulling the strings.

Yes it does have everything to do with showing up Dolan. It's not in his nature to embarrass someone. Resigning would embarrass Dolan because it would be a clear sign that he is indeed running things.

I think when Stern strongly pushed Dolan to replace Isiah as President, the reason Walsh was chosen by Dolan was because of his relationship and fondness for Isiah. Dolan didn't want to cut out Isiah and I think Walsh was the only guy who commanded tremendous respect in the NBA that would handle the Isiah situation the way that he did.
