Who believe that Denver used the Nets to have us up our offer? They new that Melo would not go to the Nets. We got played.

I believe that Denver all the while new that there was no chance of Melo going to the Nets. But they continued to press the issue and no one knew for sure. It made New York nervous.I know that we are giving up Gallo Chandler and Felton but remember we are a 450 ball team. I don't believe we are 500. If Gallo and Chandler were playing up to their potential this trade would have never happened. Also I blame Mike D with his run and gun offense and no defense no big man center player rotation. If we had a better win loss record and the team was consistant this deal would have never went down. Time will tell if this deal is right. If Patrick Ewing had a superstar playing next to him he would have won a title. We will finally have 2 stars and I predict that if the stars keep teaming up this league will go to pot and at least 10 teams will fold.

If its Gallo, Chandler, AR, Felton, Curry then we didn't get played. That's what I'd imagine is fair value.

It took Denver involving the Nets to get that fair value.

We don't know what's happening behind closed doors, but if what Melo's saying in public is true, then the Nets are a real concern.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Did the trade happen yet? We don't even know if Melo really is a Knick.

Of course we got totally played, and that's because of Dolan. Melo never would have spent his best years playing for the rebuilding Nets, a franchise no one really cares about. If we would have been patient, we would have gotten him for nothing next summer, I am convinced of that since day 1.

Agreed. People on here are upset that we didn't fleece Denver. Please, have to give if you want a top 10 player on your roster.

i agree with this somewhat - i'd be excited to get melo... but this feels like we are turning the team into a capped out mess with two stars and little else.

worried. i don't want to miss out on melo, but... this is a steep price.

Im confused. Is it over?

I read Amare wants him but he also knows we can't gut the team. Three starters is gutting and it seems we are again about being starstruck about Paul here after Billups expires.

I would prefer if I can find out Walsh is on board with this. If this is about Isiah then its does not have the "Seal of approval" from rational men. Its Isiah and the impatience.

It does seem that way; however, guys that we think of as marginal now...seem to get a lot better when the team has a couple of studs around them...I know they don't really get better...but with all the attention that Billups, Anthony, and Amare would require from opposing teams those role players suddenly have a lot more freedom and room on the court. Also, you can put guys out there to play a specific role...when we only have to ask these "marginal" players to either defend or rebound or hit some open 3s they can do it. Having "studs" allows us to not ask Williams or Walker or whomever to be complete players...just to do their job.

It is a lot to give up...but we have to pull the trigger...however, if this has to be the max we offer...

My two cents...

He would hav emade that times 2 by coming to the Knicks with endorsements deals over the length of his career. He should have realized that the Knicks would have had a GREAT team if he joined them during the summer, and he'd have a MUCH BETTER chance at winnin with Chandler, Gallo, AR and a 1st round pick next to him for years to come.

If he was smart, he'd have realized he could have made more money and win many more games by being patient. He would have have stayed loyal to the Nuggets by playing one final season at his best to reward the Nuggets fans...

They are going to go back and for between the Nets and the Knicks until they believe they've extracted about as much as they can in return for Melo. I'm not really surprised but its getting tiresome. If the mgmt in Denver was more experienced I think this would have been already resolved by now one way or another. Has an amateurish feel to it.

If he was patient, he would have asked the Nuggets to get him a second superstar instead of forcing a trade out of Denver.

Listen Carmelo was not going to leave that money on the table. I like Chandler, Gallo , and Felton. They have great moments but not all the time. Doing 45% of the time won't cut it. Melo wants to get paid not. Hell next week he may have a career ending injury. Do you think anyone would care?? I don't think so. Yes we got screwed in one way but we have a great player.

Yup... and this really confirms that Melo is less concerned about winning a title and more concerned with the $$- something many have been voicing around here.

You have to give Wade, Bosh, and James some credit for understanding that if they got all the money they could get they literally would have been playing 3 vs 5 every game.

Anthony does not seem to understand this from what has come out so far.
