With rumors saying the Knicks are about to ditch the black next year and get new unis reminding them of their glorious past, I can't help but wonder if the vintage jerseys they wore against the Hawks and Lakers are close to what we'll be seeing next year. I love them personnaly.

Do you think the Knicks are evaluating if the fans like that look, or was that a plan of the NBA, making several teams wear retro jerseys as well ?

These unis belong with the disco era fad of platform shoes and gold chains. Note the jewelry worn by Sugar. No. Not only was the typography poorly chosen and clumsily spaced, the numerals on the front were spaced too wide in relation to the lower line of type. The nameplate was treated with the same amount of disregard. It was a sloppy knock-off of the Portland Trailblazers classic (Bill Walton championship year) uniform and plagiarism is never a good idea.

The Knicks wearing the blue (circa 1973) jerseys reminds me of Jerry Lucas hoisting jumpers from the top of the key. Nice. If the Knicks were serious about design they would bring back the companion orange shooting shirt worn by trainer Danny Whelan.

Hit the open man.

orangeblob - in your opinion, what made these uniforms "dope fresh"?

Please elaborate.

The things you cite as negatives. I think the size of the letters and numbers is cool, it has a cartoon-like feel, kind of over the top, in your face. They're fun jerseys I wouldn't mind seeing once in a while.

Imagine a big number 8, all over you area, dropping the buckets. The other team would run out of the arena in fear.

They're fun jerseys.

Mister, Im with you on this. Those coke induced uni's remind me of "the human eraser" and Ray Williams running around aimless as the team worked its way to the Rory Sparrow era! No thank you.

I like Vintage uniforms with the modern sizing. The Uniforms do nothing for the game. The game makes the uniform!

Last nite those smooth blues just looked good. Classic, like one who takes care of something important.

Knicks never have to have "Knicks" on the jersey. Everyone knows who they are. Maybe its because they say "NEW YORK" is why we think its our team. Fans are not "Knickerbockers", or "Jets" or "Giants" or any other symbol. Yanks don't say "Yankees" it says NY, and that makes them ours!

THe Uniform you win your championships are the ones that define you. BUlls, Lakers and Celts really don't change much. Green bay and Steelers are two storied franchises win and look the same thru the years. Yankees and Red Sox don't change. Rangers, Canadians and Maple leafs, black hawks, Bruins don't change much.

Quality stands on its own.

Bring the quality to the knicks let the Uniform stand on its own.

Me and my kids love those, too. Hope they bring them back.

Nalod - you are so correct. Merchandising to please the kids is one thing. Consistency and continuity wins championships.

Imagine the Pittsburgh Steelers changing their classic uniform design to something cool for a fun look? That reminds me of the Toronto Raptors with the cartoon dinosaur - or the Rockets with the cartoon rocket - both hideous. Neither team won with those unis either.

No my people, there is a REASON the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Lakers, NY Yankees and Boston Celtics win games. They understand that fads come and go. They do not change uniforms, playing personality or coaches, without an exhaustive and deliberate search.

The New York brand is what we invest our emotion in. For better or worse, no matter where we reside - we are New Yorkers. "New York" says it all. Home AND Away.

Quality is not a flashy hook or a spiffy design flourish to please the merchants. Quality is making the extra pass and hitting the open man. Quality is Landry Fields, Bill Bradley, Walt Frazier and Jerry Lucas analyzing a situation in a nanosecond and making a decision before the other team can react.

Bring back the classic white warmup jackets.

Agreed with misterearl and Nalod. I LOOOOOVVVVEEEE the Jerseys they wore last night. I hope they go back to those (and the white ones at home). I wish they never changed. I'm scouring the internet to find those shorts.....

Nets have very little brand identity and I would expect them to unleash a new look and perhaps a new name.

If Knicks were to go to a "New look" they risk losing what brand identity they have and maybe lose an important branding element. They should be promoting its history. Knicks always play in manhatten and always play at MSG. Nets have played at the Commack Arena, Island Gardan, Nassau Coliseum, Piscataway, Meadowlands, Newark and Brooklyn ALL SINCE THE NEW GARDEN WAS BUILT!

Enhance your stregnths.

Knicks should not starphuck their look.

YOu gonna give up some market share with nets moving but you can also grab some NJ fans back.

Personally other than OBM's favorite "fun" the team has done a good job keeping the classic look even when it tweeks it. I really don't notice the differences.

Wouldn't bother me if they went back to the old round logo vs. the current Pagan Triangle.

Why did they change the color from orange to burgundy? If it ain't orange and blue it ain't the Knicks.

I really hope they stick with the vintage jerseys; they have a much cleaner look than their current jerseys, with the completely unnecessary stripes on the sides. The only thing I would change is the white stripe on the waist band, I think that it's too thick and needs to be thinned. The other thing they need to do is tweak the logo a bit. Lose the purposeless triangle; get rid of the black shading underneath the letters in "Knicks"; and change the font slightly (though I don't know to what, I just know that I'd prefer a different one). Basically, I want a more professional looking, updated version of their classic "Parachute" logo.
Now the joy of my world is in Zion How beautiful if nothing more Than to wait at Zion's door I've never been in love like this before Now let me pray to keep you from The perils that will surely come
