and only play a few minutes in the AS game. the guy needs to let his body heal. This is a long term gig for the Knicks --a lot of investment in amare. Like the Spurs do with Duncan--we need to pick spots when to rest him.
as much as i want to keep amare fresh, i think we are in a situation to win as much games as possible. The playoffs are not a lock, but i agree he needs to just play a few mins in the all star game.

he deserves it. that's a big thing for a player once the actual game comes around. it's recognition of your status in the league, plus i think he'd really enjoy it. and it's a boost for knick fans to get to see him play in it.

Fair enough. I guess my view depends on how bad his injuries are.

he may have a 'token showing' like kobe did back in 2008 - i think kobe played like 3 minutes or something in the all star game when his pinky was hurting him.

I think there's a huge difference as far as injury recovery goes between not playing and playing just a few minutes (after warming up too)--the latter interferes with the rest the body needs. I can understand the psychological benefits to playing a few min. though.

I would agree with Bonn that it's not even nescessary for Amar'e to play in the all star game. The guy needs to let his body heal. The big toe is a major deal. Just remember, the big toe was the beginning of the end for Shaq, from what I remember. That always slowed him down.
Do people even watch the all star game?
