Knicks trade othella for brian cardinal. Cardinal has a chance of becoming one of NBA's greatest garbage men, sort of like Rodman. Minor move but gives the knicks some solid toughness.
What cha think?

Yea I remember seeing Cardinal dominate us in Golden State, I would like to have him here but I doubt that Golden State would do it for Harrington.

Well it would certainly work...

New York trades: PF Othella Harrington (4.4 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 0.5 apg in 14.4 minutes)
New York receives: SF Brian Cardinal (9.3 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.3 apg in 21.4 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +4.9 ppg, +1.5 rpg, and +0.8 apg.

Golden State trades: SF Brian Cardinal (9.3 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.3 apg in 21.4 minutes)
Golden State receives: PF Othella Harrington (4.4 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 0.5 apg in 35 games)
Change in team outlook: -4.9 ppg, -1.5 rpg, and -0.8 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to New York and Golden State being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. New York and Golden State had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out unless trade exceptions were used for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Yes financially it would work, but I doubt that Golden State would trade him to us for Othella.

A better trade that I think improves every team is:

NY trades K. Thomas and Othella Harrington to Portland in 3 way trade. Clipps can resign KT this summer merely by matching best offer made, which will be a lot cheaper than the current 5 year deal with Elton Brand.

Clippers trade Elton Brand to Portland and get a strong PF, basically giving Portland two strong inside players. Portland also acquires Harrington from NY.

Portland trades Wallace to NY, which is what NY is after in the first place.

Every team gets something out of this deal, although it is arguable that the Clipps get the least, but this season has proven that even with the resigning of key free agents last season, the Clipps are not yet built to win with the current roster, and they get a significant salary dump and a solid contributor in Thomas.

All salaries match up on trade checker.

I think Brand is the only guy that the clips don't want to trade if they don't get equal or better value for him. That's why the signed him to a long-term deal. They see him as a guy to build around.

Understood. Except now, 1 year later, the Clipps with Brand are underachieving and they are saddled with his 5 year deal. Given Stirling's frugal nature, and the fact that K. Thomas is a pretty good substitute for Brand, while at the same time knocking millions off the payroll, I am not convinced that the Clipps wouldn't entertain this deal. Remember too, the Suns extended Marbury's contract to the max last year as well.

Hey I just finished defending KT on the other board. I like the guy - but there is NO WAY you're getting Elton Brand for KT. Hell if it was that easy to build a team we could all be GMs.
