the Curry trade i'd do in a heartbeat... i say no to the AR deal... he's worth more than just a 2nd rd pick & an extra $4M in cap space.

That's 7mm in cap--brings us down to 35mm --Im convinced that AR isnt playing with MDA as coach.

Terrible 2nd trade. Briggs I know you think of yourself as a GM but you come up with these terrible transactions way too much to be a good GM.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

then why throw away 2012+2014 for a 3 month rental of Delmbart? Both trades dont add up.

ur right, i had thought Telfair's contract wasn't expiring til after next season but it's expiring after 2011... still, it would have to depend on who we're going to sign w/that added cap space... if we free up that $7M do we have enough to sign Melo to a max deal? & even if we do are we guaranteed that Melo will sign here? last thing i want is a repeat of the Lebron situation.

The 2nd trade guarantees you the full cap space for Melo next year--brings in a back up PG for this year and gives us a high 2 for 2011. that does a lot.

I probably wouldn't do either trade. Dalembert and Telfair do not turn this team into a contender by my estimation.

Dalembert is an expiring and plays great defense, he might give us an inside presence. I'm not sure it is worth giving up 2 second round picks, especially since we have so few 1st rounders). I know we can buy more 2nd rders, but, for a 3 month rental, I don't see the value cause I don't see this.

I think the Telfair trade significantly undervalues both Turiaf and Randolph. Bringing in Dalembert might help the dearth at the backup C position, and then you remove the additional player so that there is no benefit? Turiaf has a player option for $4.3M this coming year. All odds are that he opts out in favor of more money. I would guess he ends up in Orlando next year. I think they would pay him. If he doesn't opt out, I think his contract is more valuable than it is costly, that is, I think it is very tradeable if needed. As for Randolph, we could arguably get a first round pick plus extra. If the reports are to believed, we can get Minnesota to take Curry and Randolph, deliver a 1st Rd pick and Corey Brewer? If we just took back Corey Brewer and the 1st rder we are probably in a better position than that trade.

All in all, I don't have a problem with trading pretty much any player on this roster for the right deal. I don't see the cap savings here as a worthwhile reason to give up some of our few assets.

You know I gonna spin wit it

If Briggs was a GM the team would make 35 trades in a single season.

How is the second one a terrible trade if it gets us cap room that we can use? FA class in 2012 is pretty serious and it allows for other options in general.

Cap room is a good thing and I agree, I don't see AR playing here.

Minny was willing to trade a 1st rounder for AR and now we are only getting Telfair and a 2nd rounder. Turiaf and AR both only have 1 year left after this year. Perfect for 2012 FA class. Unless you are planning on using the cap space for signing someone this summer then this is a bad deal. Curry's contract should be enough for Melo for this summer.

2nd trade is pretty bad. Sebastian isnt desirable to me really, but i'd take him at a much cheaper price than what u've offered. There is the possibility that he could play at a higher level in his home town, so i'd be intrigued from that standpoint, but its also possible he'd be a disruptive presence.

Dalembert trade i like. What would we have to pay him next year is the real question. He makes a ton now and will obviously get a cut, but how much?
