I think we should be playing better, but not by that much. I think we all came into the season with a certain idea of what we thought would happen. The reality of the actual season always shows things we may not have expected. I really didn't factor in not having gotten anything out of AR and I was hopeful that Turiaf would be able to have helped a bit more. I was pleasantly surprised at how good Fields has been and yet a bit down on the inconsistency of Gallo and Chan. Amar'e and Felton are doing about what I expected. Overall this team is a bit behind what I felt they could do, but they still have a chance to get it back together after the break and of course we don't know what will happen with the Trade Deadline. still I'd had to vote No, we should be playing better.

Now they're gonna have to have a strong finish to get up to where I felt they should be, but I was calling for that anyway, so we'll see if that still plays out.

fair enough... i pretty much agree w/what u said, i expected about .500 this year but after watching this team play this year i'm not really happy w/how they've played up to this point... same old defensive lapses, same bad shot selection, same lack of intensity for long stretches of the game... the talent is no doubt better than it's been in years, but we're falling back into many of the same bad habits that have plagued this team for a long time now.

i thought we'd finish the season 41-41, so they are right on pace.

With such a young squad and all the Melo drama in the papers plus starting 3-8 I'm happy
with were we are....

Now that being said I think we should be playing much better

Melo deal needs to either go down or deadline needs to pass quickly but till then I see
Gallo , Fields , and Chandler all look distracted!

Young men making millions to play ball for a team they believe in but if you think your
not part of the plans its human nature to be affected

KNICKS on the way UP!!!

Yeah it's not so much about the record. It's the way the team is actually playing. They clearly have the talent to have a better record IMO. The defense was actually better earlier in the year. It was never consistent, but now it's gone and on top of that the offense has reverted too. Still they can turn it around, but the trade deadline can't come fast enough for me.

We've got guys that have a weak mentality and it seems to be effecting them. Too many games we've looked almost disinterested or distracted is maybe a better word. We shouldn't be losing to the weak teams we've lost to. It shows a lack of effort IMO. By now they know what to do on both ends. We've seen them play much better, so I know they know what to do. The only thing i'm seeing is a lower intensity and overall effort level. They'd better pick it up or they'll lose their seed and slip back to the 7 or 8th spot.

disappointing

giving up too many points.

Id like to do a deal that changes the composition of the team a bit if we can.

Not happy.

Third season in a row trade drama is dragging team down around deadline.

Recall, friends, the hot start, the chemistry was beautiful. Then the drama, the negativity, this guy will go, that guy will go. Then the Felton.

A tragedy.

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

Our PnR is still crappy. Thats why we are .500. Not sure who to blame. I am not happy with Felton as our #2 option , because in this offense he should trust his teammates more. I understand that he can score with the best of them(on our team that is) , but then he is not getting our guys involved = little confidence accumulated through out the season.

Not happy. The record is more or less in line with what I expected, but to see the lapses and gaping holes in the team (defense) makes me unhappy. I expected us to have this record but simply be outmanned on many nights and lose games, not to play unfocused, undisciplined and poorly-coached ball to lose a huge chunk of our games.

Papabear Says

This team is not working. Don't be satisfied with giving up all those points every night. It's time for a change with coaching. We are not getting any better with this team. D'Antoni refuse to trade Gallo for Anthony. I would trade Gallo ,Chandler, for Anthony. Hey We ain;t winning with this squard. What would we be with out Amare.

.500 is what I expected. Trending up would be better.

Can we return to our former glory of 20 games ago?

Tune in to find out.

Another way of looking at it is, after 2 years of giving up assets, players, and picks to get cap space, would you be happy if that approach in year 3 led to a .500 team. I'd rather just be rebuilding through the draft and getting cheap FAs. Amare's great but I'd much rather have an opportunity to get a star who's 8 years younger and on a 4 year rookie contract through the draft.

TMS, if Melo-Palooza was not out there would there be such a panic to make a trade?

Maybe one to address out needs. That is where we should go if the price for Melo is too high.

Gotta ask you TMS, is there a price too high for you where you walk away?

There a lot of fans who want miracles happened ASAP. It is nothing wrong with it. It is human nature.
But life is not like this. Sad but true.
There is no way the worst team in pro sport can be transformed in legit club in 2 years. Not talking about contender because this is plain madness.
I am surprised we get where we are in 2 years. It is pretty impressive.
But we have at least 2 more years to go until this team can contend with the best clubs in NBA.
If the fans, the owner and the stuff will lose patience and went into the blame game mode we are doomed.
I do not want to have one year freak success and 20 years of sucking before and after.
We need solid foundation and plan for years to come. And we are working just like this lately.
My hope is that Walsh will be given an opportunity to continue building success in NY and bring bbal back to relevance for years to come.

Personally, I thought we would be worse so yes I am OK with where we are. I think the roster needs improvement but it doesnt happen in a single off season, these things take time.

personally i draw the line when it comes to giving up all 3 of our top young players to get Melo, these are not ordinary circumstances we're dealing with here... Denver has no other real options but to deal w/the Knicks... i think a reasonable offer for both sides is to give them their choice of any 2 of our 4 young guys (Gallo, Fields, Wilson, AR) & then whatever other scrap filler they want in terms of cash, expirings & TD, Mozgov or Walker in exchange for Melo... that gives them a good package of young talent & cap space & prevents us from having to completely gut the roster to get a player we might very well be able to sign this summer for nothing... i am willing to sacrifice 2 out of the 4 young guys to get Melo here now rather than risk waiting this out... i think the Nuggets would do well to accept that kind of offer rather than taking the risk that Melo will leave for nothing too.

if DEN is not going to be reasonable then i am fine with holding onto our cap flexibility & weighing our options this summer... if we still can't get Melo in free agency then there are players out there that i have in mind that i would want to pursue, but none of them appeal to me nearly as much as the thought of having Melo playing next to Amare does at this point.
