D'Antoni's 7SOL makes stars out of marginal talent on the wings. As long as you can shoot a wide open trey and have long arms, that's good enough, right?

QRich, JRich, Joe Johnson, Shawne Williams, Chandler, Gallo, Fields...

Point is, how much are we valuing the current wings on our team? If we had to trade all three (worst case) of Gallo/Chandler/Fields in order to get Melo, would it really be impossible to create more of them out of thin air?

Melo is impossible to create out of thin air. These other guys seem to pop up on every D'Antoni team that also has Stoudemire.

With all of the empty roster spots we'd have after a crazy trade like this; would it really be impossible to imagine picking a few D-League guys who are long and athletic to fill in at the 2 guard?

Felton-Melo-Stat-Moz would be your starters, so you're really talking about one starting spot. Turiaf, Walker, TD, Williams off the bench along with whoever we pick up...

I mean... come on. Make the deal Donnie. Mike can create another player like the key wings that we have right now.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

fair enough...

I just think that we're in the first year of having MikeD and STAT and we're looking at these wings, thinking, "holy cow, Fields, Gallo, Chandler, Williams and Walker look great. We should hold onto them."

In reality, I think that you could plug a lot of D-League guys in the same spots and get similar production. You also only need to fill one spot if you get back Melo and lose all three of Gallo/Fields/Chandler... that's the worst case scenario. Forgive me if that doesn't sound so scary.

I just hope we're not overvaluing these wings when D'Antoni "squishes them out" with regularity.
