was skipping Dejuan Blair for T D. Im not saying TD stinks--hes a decent player. Dejuan Blair--when he gets 35 minutes plays like a young Elton Brand. We wouldnt take him because he doesnt fit our *system* and that is a flaw because you need to take the best player available. Other than fields our drafting has only been fair since DW has taken over. How badly could we use Dejuan Blair at C? I dont want to hear hes too short because he starts at C for a team that is 44-8 and when he gets the minutes--hes been great and they know it. Easily one of the most under rated players in the league.

Blair works in that San Antonio system like Malik Rose does, he is nothing special and would be a role player on any other team not a starter. This guy has no acls and the wheels can fall off at any moment. Teams were scared off by his lack of size overweight and no acls , Donnie made the right move I wouldn't have taken him over TD.
No layups!

cmon dude.. at least we got a rotation player there, its not like we swung and missed.

Look at Walsh's late draft pickups:
Fields
Douglas
Mosgov (undrafted FA)
Williams (FA)
Rautins
Jerome Jordan

His two lottery picks:
Gallo
Hill

If you look at what Walsh as done as a body of work in 2 years with the draft and signing undrafted (or unwanted) FA types the guy's body of work is an easy B+ (only Jordan Hill keeps him from an A)

Is this really an issue?

Get over it already. All teams hit and miss on picks. You of all people should know this. Where is your "We should have picked BJ Mullens" thread??? I know you won't respond, you never do when you're wrong.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

We picked Hill over half a dozen top flight point guards and you want to split hairs over the TD vs Blair decision?

Hill over Holiday/Jennings/Beaubois/Collison etc was crazy.

Picking TD over a guy with time-bombs for knees didn't really bother me. Its the fact that he thought he could fool the world by getting a PG late instead of in the lotto that bothers me.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

I totally agree about not taking Blair. His career might be shorter because of his knee issues but 5-7 years of a big guy playing as good as he does is worth a late first round pick.

We dont have what he brings. He brings toughness excellent skill production and power in the paint from the 4/5 slot. We lack toughness--we lack backbone. This was a throwback Knick 1990's and he's a big reason why SA is 44-8--his numbers are skewed because they break up the PT--look at Duncan's numbers this year way down. Malik rose was playing with TD in his prime 23-12-3---Malik Rose isnt 1/2 the skill player Blair is.

We just went in the wrong direction when we signed MDA--that makes us look for certain type of players--thats why we have very little backbone. Did you hear the SA guys praising Blair--those guys know how good and valuable he is to the team.
