Hate to say it but we can give up fields for melo. He's great but we can replace him in this year's draft. We are good at finding good role players. Players like jimmer fredette, klay Thompson, jajuan Johnson, etc have the ability to be great role players in this league. This draft sucks but there will be good role players available when we draft if we draft right. Melo is a special player and gallo will start next to him anyways. He has improved and has star potential. I would hate to deal fields but if it takes him, Chandler, and AR to make it happen we have to just do it.

I hate to lose Fields, he's really a diamond in the rough, we found him in the rough. We need Billups more than we need Melo.

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

That's no sort of fact I have ever heard. Fields is untouchable. He won't be traded for a volume scorer. He's a piece we keep for glue.

You glue joints with Fields, you apply him and then you hold it firm with a vise grip.

I am a big enough Fields fan where I bought his jersey despite the trade rumors... if Fields is necessary to get Melo, you have to. I'd hold out like hell and get them to bite on Gallo and Chandler first. But if the atitutde is "all three or no deal" and then Melo signs an extension with Denver? Wow

Chandler is in a contract year so long term it would be more like Gallo and Fields for Melo which like you said you have to do.
The Knicks would also have to add more defensive minded players to the roster if Melo came here.

I'm glad someone said this. I love Fields but people need to get serious , this is Carmelo Anthony! Fields is a nice role player but come on the dude is a starting shooting guard in the NBA and averages 10 points a game , to be perfectly honest he's probably the worst starting shooting guard in the NBA. I know he was a second round pick and averages 7 rebounds that is wonderful but he cannot be the reason we do not get Carmelo .

Fact is... that I don't believe Amare + Melo bring a championship to NY.
Championship squads gotta be tough, and that's not a tough squad.
This team + Melo is going to get lit up like a Rockefeller Center Xmas Tree in the playoffs.
I don't know what the answers are, but that doesn't seem to be it for me.
Clearly, if we're gonna get Melo on the cheap, you gotta do it. But then I don't know how you get to the next level after that.
You may have to trade one of your superstars a couple years down the road for a different chemistry, a tougher one.
