Knicks fans have been on edge for 27 years. We long to see a championship banner hang above MSG. But as normal Knicks look to bring the usual season to NY. Before we were a Charles Smith layup or a John Starks jumper away from a championship. Since the 1995-1996 run at the tittle the Knicks havent really improved. Knicks slack through the season until the last couple weeks if the season, we all know the drill by now. They find a way to lose. Knicks were the ol faithful of the NBA. This year it looks like were out of the running before the season starts. Knicks dont look promising. Layden sits on his hands and prays the Knicks get better. Well praying aint gonna do the trick.
yeow, someone is bitter.
Layden sits on his hands and prays the Knicks get better. Well praying aint gonna do the trick. Knicks havent made any meaningful additions this off-season. They did aquire Spoon. But that just adds another body to a position that looks as long as a DMV line.
Let's remember, besides the two or three teams that had cap room, no other team has signed a big-time free agent, that's because they signed with their own respective teams. Webber wanted out of SacTown bad, but the money wasn't to be had anywhere else. And a few wacky Memphis trades aside, who has made a trade? I say it's more of a NBA salary/cap sturcture that has tied the hands of GMs more than anything. And in the case of the Knicks, pre-luxury tax contracts have made their players untradeable.
We needed a Center at the trading deadline last year, Layden even said so. We were swept in the first round. Now Layden says hes happy with team. In 6 months things have gotten worse.
Outside of Hakeem, what other center could be had? Amachi? Plus, I thought we already had Camby, don't we need a low post power forward?
We watched 3 of the leagues best point guards get traded, and the best get traded cross-river. I thought the financial capital of the world would get some looks. Knicks are slippin'
To get a great point guard, you need to give up a great point guard. And only about 4 teams in the NBA can do that. Again, Memphis only traded for a fan favorite, so that was an exception.
With the way restricted free agents and free agents are signing with their own teams - Boston, Raptors, Sac, etc. - it seems like the days of all stars jumping cities is done with. Start building through the draft. Where is that French dude when you need him.
