Mosgov/Melo
or
Nene/Chandler
I'm going with Melo and Mos
***IF*** Mosgov turns into a true center.. a 12 point 13 rebound 2block 55% shooting center like I think he can be its not even close, because Melo is so much better.
I have been Melo resistant because I dont think he's worth gutting out good young team for. For me its all about winning a title or trying to. Trading Fields, Chandler, Mosgov and AR for Melo and taking back Harrington or some crap doesnt get us there... but THIS:
PG Felton
SG Melo
SF Gallo
PF Amare
C Mosgov
Thats a HUGE lineup that is equally athletic. You have Fields, who will get 30 minutes a game a the 2/3.
Thats competing for a title. Guys that think you do "anything" for Melo then just "go get" role players like Mos, Gallo, Fields, have their heads in their asses. Those guys are building block players.
I'm getting a bit excited about Melo knowing we wont have to overpay... or hoping we dont anyway
You're making the assumption that a Melo trade would be the last move we ever make for the next 3-4 years?
Players of Melo's caliber are rarely if ever put on the market, let alone demanding a trade to NY, and can be had for scraps.
Nene's a good player but all we need at C is a servicable C who can rebound. By 2012, for example, you know Camby will come back to NY for the vet min if he still has any game in him. Dalembert could possibly be had this summer. We could still make further moves for a center with whatever pieces we have remaining, or we can draft a center prospect with our picks, and guys like Hibbert, Ibaka, Perkins, etc. routinely fall in the draft.
We're not getting a player of Melo's caliber with any of those resources (FA signings, trade, draft picks).
