I sense if we wanted Monta before season in David Lee S&T we could have gotten him since his contract was huge and the Warriors didn't seem to like the Curry and Ellis combo.

But had we gotten Monta we likely dont get Felton and obviously Melo.

So going back to the Lee S&T would you guys have preferred Monta on our team?

Neither. Felton is just fine.
Rose is not the answer.

Monta is not good, he's a troubled young man that would cause more problems than he would solve. Closer to Marbury than anyone else.

They sat Monta has made strides in terms of maturity and it sounds like his teammates like him. But it's obvious that the man just isn't a point guard. If you bring Monta in, then you'd have to go out and find a playmaker capable of guarding two guards. Playmakers like that don't grown on trees. I'd rather have Melo.

Absolutely. If they did grow on trees, someone could walk up to the tree and pick one off a branch. That would be easy.

"I Sense"?

Spidey sense?

seems is Warriors wanted to dump him they would have by now. The kid is a hell of a player but a shoot first point and not the team leader that Felton is.

Amare might be the League MVP at this point of the season but Felton is the Knick MVP. Felton sets the tone for the offense in which Amare is the 1st option.

Ellis is a great talent but:

Felton & Melo > Ellis.

BTW, Steph Curry is having the kind of season I thought he would have last year as a rookie. His play as a rookie really suprised me. This year he is struggling a bit with getting banged up. I guess same with Jennings. Injury happens but these guys are a bit slight in build. Not saying they won't fill out but they will lose that quickness but hopefully gain other skills.

It's not even close. I prefer Melo because he is a star and Ellis is just a very good scorer. On top of it, we would not have Felton if we got Ellis. So i pick Melo, Felton, Turiaf, and AR over Ellis, because that is what it comes down to.

But- if the question is who do we prefer if both are available at the deadline- I might actually go with Ellis- and play a very small backcourt with Ellis and Felton.

The thing I like about Ellis is he can break down defenses at will, and get into the lane.

I think that would be incredible in this system, and very welcome come play offs when it is so hard to get your shot off.

I love Ellis but you have to design a specific type of team with a specific type of offense to take advantage of those skills and translate it into winning. You can have a PG scoring 20+ a game adn be very successful if those points are in the flow of the offense. The games I watch I don't really see a ton of flow for Golden State. It just seems to be two guards shooting whenever they want. Tought to win that way. Not impossible(if the guards are great!) but tough. I far prefer Melo.
I just hope that people will like me

I think Ellis would be an absolute star here. A 25ppg 6 assist SG who would lead the league in steals. His m2m defense is weak but he's lightning fast and makes a lot of plays on defense that turn into fastbreak layups. With Felton and his bulldog ability to guard bigger guys the pair would be much better than Ellis/Curry. Ellis would make Felton a great 3rd option while spreading the floor even more w/ Gallo, etc.

He's not a bad guy or a problem player at all. He was dumb and crashed a moped and it almost ruined his career (see Jay Williams), and there was some drama about voiding his contract, etc... but thats it. Dopey move by Ellis but this isnt a bad guy at all.

I think Melo is a better and more valuable player but if I could just take one of the other for nada it would be Ellis. We NEED a SG that does what he does and we have 4 SF types who are pretty solid

How about Melo or Kevin Martin @ $10M per... he might be the perfect SG for Mike D'Antoni. He's efficient, he gets to the FT line at a high rate, he's 6'7...

If I can sign Melo as a FA, I think you have to go with Melo over trading for KevMart, but otherwise, this offseason I would be looking at adding Kevin Martin and Ty Chandler to the current roster.

Not sure what it would take to trade for Kevin Martin though.

You know I gonna spin wit it

Melo - 6'9" 26 pts a game AND 9 rebounds has to be the consensus pick over the 6'2"? combo guard Ellis

As Knicks fans, we should value playoff caliber players A LOT more than scorers on losing teams.
