They said Denver isn't high on Chandler because he is going to need to be paid soon. He's good and playing like one of the top 35 players in the league (don't know where they got that from, I like him but don't agree) but they don't wanna trade for someone who will immediately be a RFA and they'll have to compete with teams to keep him.

Fields' talent to salary ratio is crazy, he's making like 700k and is starting and making an impact on a winning team. He still has upside and has the most value.

Gallo, they weren't as high on him, he's not having as good a year as he had last year (duh, no STAT last year) but he's good and hes young. He will need to be resigned soon too, tho. They like him somewhat, but blah, blah, blah.

Curry + AR/pick/s are the obvious parts of any deal.

I question the source of this. Chandler was never on the table according to Walsh, so why would they comment on him or even consider him for that matter.

When did Walsh say Chandler was never on the table?

if we can get Melo while keeping Wilson AND Gallo, then say goodbye to Fields.

I can sign up for this. This is best case scenario. Then you can trade one of them for a center and backup PG. Teams are probably more interested in Chandler at this point.

Any scenario is a best case scenario if we get Melo save for having to part with Galo AND Chandler.

People are down on our assests but we really have so many. Galo, Chandler, Fields, AR, Azabuike and his insured contract that comes off the books, Curry's expiring....that's a ton to work with whether it's just Knicks/Denver or a 3 way or 4 way deal.

It's not Harris and Favors, but that ship has (hopefully) sailed.

not for me. I am more comfortable giving up one of those guys and keeping Fields; that's how high I am on him.

Especially if you have 2 guys like Amare and Melo who NEED the ball, Fields just compliments them so well and actually plays a position that Melo doesn't cover.

I'm high on Fields also but even if you find a guy half as good as Fields as complimenting STAT and Melo, those 2 guys will make up the difference by far.

The chemistry ball movement guys are Fields and Gallo. Chandler is a destination. A very good finisher, slasher and shooter.

The whole notion of Chandler having to be paid is somthing Denver has to get their act together and grow up.

He is quality and you have to pay. There is nothing wrong with his agent having an understanding about a price, and if the market is over that he would faciliate a sign and trade on that player. WE did that with Dlee. We paid him nice for one year then had an agreement.

But thats my speculation of logic.

While I prefer Gallo for reasons based on his skill set, if he is unhappy in Denver he could be a star in Europe and make real good money when his number is up. My conspiricy theory is Gallo had an agreement to enter the draft if NY took him. MDA was in place so it was a natural.

I try to keep Fields and Gallo and believe including Melo COULD maintain some of that good chemistry.

Thats my hope. If they want fields they don't get a no. 1 pick. Curry/fields/Chander and a Walt Frazier autograph jersey!

Problem with our guys is they arent locked up with long term deals. Fields and Gallo are due to get paid summer 2012.

Can't lock them up until we get STAT some help. The Knicks can always go over the cap to resign their own players.

depends on the new CBA... if there's a hard cap then all salary exceptions will be done away with.

Players union will never agree to a hard cap. They already have max contracts as well as rookie contracts and a one year removed from school rule.

i agree it's gonna be a huge sticking point of contention but the owners are really pushing for it.

I know the owners are pushing for it but I think the biggest issue is Stern saying that owners are losing money and the players union questioning the accounting.

no way will there be a hard cap, imho, without the players getting more than a few things they are really interested in.
