Our value to denver has to be the ability to take contracts like Harrington, Andersen, and Balkman off their hands. Even if they aren't crazy about what we have to offer, the rebuilding phase has to start with ridding themselves of those players. Despite what they get back, they would be crazy not to deal with us if we are willing to take on some or all of those contracts. The good news for us is the 2 big contracts of that bunch, Harrington and Andersen, actually fill needs for us. Andersen is very similar to Turiaf as he is an energetic big man that blocks shots, only he is a much better rebounder and really adds solid depth up front. Harrington is a player that knows the system and with this scoring ability, can help ease the pain of potentially losing 2 out of the 3 of Fields/Gallo/Chandler. While we know Harrington has his flaws, he could be an ideal 6th man for this team. I compare him to Crawford in the sense that he is a bad fit for a bad team, but on a good team is a great 6th man option. Adding contracts like this is not ideal for us long term, but if we are committing to Melo, we are committing to sacrificing all of our cap space anyways. And considering we would have to take on these not-so-nice contracts, it's at least good to know that we have use for these players, and they even fill a couple of our team's needs of depth up front and rebounding.

Say we trade 2 out of the 3 of our young wings, as well as Curry, Mozgov, Walker, Azubuike, and a 1st rounder from AR, plus our future 1st and 2nd round picks, and cash in exchange for Melo, Andersen, Harrington, and Balkman. we are left with this.

We will need to pick up a couple extra players maybe for 10-day contracts, but with this team we can at least go 2nd round of the playoffs this season and i would consider us the 3rd best team in the east behind Miami and Boston. If we add a starting caliber center and a backup PG over the summer, i have no question in my mind we are a championship contending team for the next 5 or 6 years.
