It looks more and more that Stat/Melo/Paul signed in blood something similar to what Lebron/Wade/Bosh did...

He's like 3,258,531,235,235^(12,464,235,752,120,987) up on Dolan.

You don't become so successful on your own accord that 60 Minutes feels compelled to profile you and only be one up on Dolan!

It's hard to take this kind of an announcement from a GM seriously

It wasn't the GM, it was the owner.

The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.

Love it...love it...Dolan doesn't have that kind of stuff...nets will be good when they get to Brooklyn. They have tons of cap room and picks. It's a given.

I wouldn't bs surprised if talks start again between the 2. Although I haven't seen the press conference you guys are talking about. I come from a Russian background and know some very successful Russians. If he can get what he wants in the end (especially if he gets it for less than he originally wanted) he won't have any problem backtracking.

Hopefully this paves the way for a Knicks trade though.

It wasn't the GM, it was the owner.

the owner told his staff to stop talks... an alleged meeting of Prokhorov, Jay-Z & King w/Melo & his agents & Ujiri that was scheduled to go down tomorrow was cancelled... the trade is dead as of now.

Sounds like a bargaining position to me. "I'm done here. Until you reduce your demands."

Report: Nets To Walk Away From Carmelo Anthony Deal, Owner Mikhail Prokhorov Says

Jan 19 4:04p by Russ Oates

The latest turn in the Carmelo Anthony trade saga has emerged, and this time it comes from New Jersey Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov. The Russian businessman said during a press conference today that he has instructed the front office to withdraw from any deal. This was a final decision because the process dragged on and has taken up too many of the team's resources.

The proposed deal that fell through would have included the Detroit Pistons to balance out salaries, expiring contracts and draft picks. The Nets would receive Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Anthony Carter, Shelden Williams and the Pistons' Richard Hamilton. In return the Nuggets would receive rookie Derrick Favors, Devin Harris, Anthony Morrow, several other players and two first-round draft picks (from the Nets). The Pistons would receive Johan Petro and Troy Murphy from the Nets, as well as a draft pick.

Where does this leave the Nuggets now? The New York Knicks could still be a possibility, and the Chicago Bulls may be back in the thick of things. Or the Nuggets could wind up with nothing, not trade Melo before the deadline and then watch him leave for nothing during free agency this summer.

Right now, it appears the Nuggets' front office has overreached in this whole Melodrama.

"I'm not happy with the way ... this deal has gone until now," said Prokhorov. "It has taken too long. It has been played out in public and it certainly has taken a toll on the players and I believe that it has cost us several games. I think management did a great job, but there comes a time when the price is simply too expensive. I'm instructing our team to walk away from the deal.

"And the meeting that our management was supposed to have in Denver with Carmelo [on Thursday] is hereby canceled."

Said Prokhorov: "We will come back to the table every time we need the right player for the team. But really I'm not ready to overpay. Because as soon as you make a mistake in the NBA, you can wait for the next chance for the next five or six years. That's why I prefer to be really patient and I want to thank the New Jersey fans for their patience."
