I have to think about this a little more, but injury aside, would you do it?

I think both teams benefit.

Thoughts?

I dont know if I like Kandi that much. I dont think I would do it because for some reason I always considered him to be an underachiever.

The Wolves have a good chance to win it all this year, Kandiman or no Kandiman. Deke would provide 6 fouls and some interior D against the likes of Duncan and Shaq. Deke is a little less brittle than Kandi who may not even show up. Deke has lots of playoff experience; Mark Maddson and E Johnson are just not going to cut it come May. Maybe throw in Sweets/Othella as a bonus.

The Knicks get younger in the middle and nab a potential Low Post Presence (tm) that everyone is hungering for.

i'd only give up deke (maybe a 2nd rounder) for kandi straight up, although kandi is the type of guy we'd LOVE to have on our team, if healthy. he'd be the best center in the east, period

it may seem like a no-brainer but i wouldn't do it.

let me put it to you this way, kandi man is LAZY and ALWAYS hurt. would that be better than a center that at least works hard and can contribute from time to time? especially since he's a good person to have in the locker room for the younger guys. if we make the playoffs, deke will be very useful (even for 5-10 min stretches).

i wouldn't do it b/c kandi man is another bum who'll never live up to his potential b/c of injuries and b/c of his LAZY attitude.

I would agree with the lazy and injured all the time, but there is a small chance that the guy pans out. In 2 years Deke is done. Nada. And you get zero in return for having him retire on your team. WIth Kandi there is at least a small percentage chance that he lives up to some type of potential. And that's why I would do it.

KG's contract is set. And if you have a chance at winning a championship you take on any salary (especially in Deke's range) if it makes you better.

This is a no-brainer. Dikembe can still contribute, but the Kandi man is younger and would give us some offensive presence at the C position. Aguirre could probably mold him into one of the best Centers in the NBA, the only problem with the Kandi man (as everyone knows) is he is injured often. If I was Isiah I would see what the T'Wolves want for this guy. The only thing is, Dikembe for the Kandi wouldn't work straight up, we would need to add someone like Frankie or Doleac to make the deal work financially.

One of the most overrated # 1 draft picks of the late 90's with all the hype you hear on a number one draft pick that fails to measure up when experts sell players with Athleticism and Upside makes our man kandi no lion king....more like lion dung.

And to top the mediocrity mongers, he was giving the CClipps an ultimatum which I thought won him the player joke of the year

Just when Zeke was trying to clean up Knicks act, Martin comes up with this Kandi coated pick. Nice going pal

Deke has way too much class to be traded for Kandi, period

and I suppose you think that Kwame Brown is just as lazy? These people take time to develope. (Jermaine O'Neal) Kwame and Olowokandi will both be 20/10's soon. I read a pre-season article on 'Kandi and it shows him as anything but lazy. He's was supposed to have been getting more touches in the Clippers offense, but he got injured. His size/rebounding/ and post game is already there.

Yeah in a heartbeat but who would Minnesota include??? It wouldn't work under the salary cap. Minny would have to add someone else..

No, both signed for the MLE. Ask s3231 to do a realgm trade and he will show you that it works.

No, both signed for the MLE. Ask s3231 to do a realgm trade and he will show you that it works.

New York trades: C Dikembe Mutombo (6.1 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 0.5 apg in 24.5 minutes)
New York receives: C Michael Olowokandi (6.4 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 21.0 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +0.3 ppg, -3.2 rpg, and -0.1 apg.

Minnesota trades: C Michael Olowokandi (6.4 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 21.0 minutes)
Minnesota receives: C Dikembe Mutombo (6.1 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 0.5 apg in 47 games)
Change in team outlook: -0.3 ppg, +3.2 rpg, and +0.1 apg.

TRADE DECLINED
Due to Minnesota and New York being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Minnesota and New York had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did not happen here (only Minnesota met the condition). This trade does not satisfy the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
