We the Jury have read volumes of "Melo"Drama.

We have heard both sides, all the contingent facts.

Lets keep this to simple yes or no. If you get him via Trade assets will have to be moved.

Plese don't list your contingents to what you would do. This has all been recorded and on the record in previous threads.

Just a trade. We'll do a "Free Agent" Melo poll later if he does not move by trading deadline.

Yes or No?

Melo yes
Melo no

Propose what we're giving up. It's hard to evaluate a trade without that piece of info.

Even I vote yes here because there are some circumstances I could support him coming here.

Agreed. If it's anything remotely close to the Nets' offer, then no way.

1 of Gallo/Wilson/Landry + AR (or 1st rd pick) + cash (or 1st rd pick) + expirings = no brainer
2 of Gallo/Wilson/Landry + etc. = depends on DW's other moves
all 3 of Gallo/Wilson/Landry = wait for free agency

You get Melo by any means necessary. Dudes are in love with potential when Amare's knees are a ticking time bomb.

I guess some dont recall Amare sitting on the bench with two MASSIVE ice wraps on his knees a few games ago.

If nothing else, I'd trade for Melo just for the opportunity to trade him later (perhaps in the off-season) to NJ for that huge package.

I doubt Denver wants Chandler when they can get him in the summer if Carmelo leaves.

So Gallo and Fields with picks sounds nice but it really isnt that great of a package considering Gallo and Fields are due to get paid summer 2012.

if u can come up with better packages the Nuggets can get in the current circumstances, let's discuss... i can't think of any better they can milk from teams only looking to rent Melo for the rest of this season than the 1st package on that list.

The other option is to do nothing or go the straight salary dump method to a team willing to rent Melo.

Denver can keep Carmelo past the deadline because he likely isn't going to opt out with no CBA in place. Carmelo is guaranteed to make 18.5 million next year on his current deal. I dont see him giving that away. Worse case for Carmelo he plays what is left of a 2011-12 season in Denver and becomes a Free agent in 2012 with Chris Paul and Deron Williams.

i think he's gonna opt out... he's made it clear he wants to play with the Knicks & i doubt he's gonna wanna stick around wasting another year on a team that's likely going to be losing Kenyon Martin & JR Smith this offseason & an aging Chauncey Billups... i think he sees that the Knicks are up & coming & wants to be a part of their rise back to prevalence in this league... i think his family wants him in NY also & so do his agents.

Denver has the option to just hold onto him & lose him for nothing but a trade exception this summer if they so choose... if they go that route then they're cutting off their nose to spite their face... there are no other teams out there IMO that would be willing to give up more than a package of Gallo, Wilson or Landry + 2 1st round picks just for a Melo rental this year... if NJ is that desperate even after Melo has made it clear to them that he won't sign an extension with them, then that would be an irresponsibly stupid move on their part to make... i don't see the Rockets offering better than the Knicks can either in that deal... even an offer of Jordan Hill, Chase Budinger & 2 1st round picks won't be better than what the Knicks can offer, & who's to say they're even considering going after a Melo rental?

It's easy to say he is going to opt out of 18.5 million when it isn't your money. Fact is he cant sign a new deal once he opts out until the new CBA is in place which could take months. I dont see him tempting faith with millions of dollars hanging in the balance. If a lockout does happen then we are looking at half an NBA season anyway so he'd spend a few months in Denver which wouldn't be the end of the world. He'd then get the option to possibly team up with Chris Paul in sumer 2012.

LeBron, Bosh, and Wade all took a lot less money so they could play together to win a championship. Melo will do the same and play for the Knicks with Amar'e.

The only thing we have to be careful about is another team, not thought to be involved, suddenly making moves to get Melo. Similar to Miami getting all 3 when we thought we had LeBron. But right now, we are in a very good position.

Lebron was able to sign his new deal July 8th. Carmelo will not be able to sign with the Knicks until the new CBA is finalized which could be months. Carmelo opting out makes zero sense with no CBA in place. What is he opting out for?

I posted an article in which Carmelo stated he is sure there will be a lockout.
