The Berman article on Walsh and Melo makes it seem as if Walsh is not necessarily gungho to make the trade:

Though the 6-foot-11 Randolph is out of the rotation and seemingly off coach Mike D'Antoni's radar, Walsh is unsure he wants to give up on him because he is just 21 years old, and size and athleticism is a rare commodity. D'Antoni, however, does not like Randolph's in-game demeanor and he doesn't carry a high-enough motor.

Personally, I would want something along with the #1... hopefully Ridnour.

...Of course I would also like to be sure that Randolph is not worth keeping before we deal him away.

Do it before this scrub isn't even worth a low 2nd Round pick.

+1.

The kid has no potential, nor any abilities. It was all hype.

He will either totally break out or totally break down in Minny. Bank it.

In fairness, he can handle a basketball like a guard and has 10 rebound, 2 block potential. It's a rare combination. That said, he's Little Stick Boy and doesn't appear to have heart or work eithic. Poice!

I have no doubt that AR can go somewhere and add instant stats to the equation. Can he help a team win? that's up for debate at this point.

Here's one article on the matter. dont see anything definitive though, could just be rumors:

Timberwolves eyeing Knicks' Anthony Randolph?
By Mark J. Miller

The Minnesota Timberwolves held "internal discussions" about trying to obtain guard O.J. Mayo(notes) from the Memphis Grizzlies, but a source told CBS Sports that those conversations ended before Mayo's name made it into the papers for something other basketball: a fight on a plane with teammate Tony Allen(notes) over a gambling debt.

However, CBS notes that the Wolves remain interested in New York Knicks benchwarmer Anthony Randolph(notes), believing the "third team could be a charm" for the talented but raw big man, according to a source.

Since being drafted in the first round of the 2008 draft by the Golden State Warriors, the 6-11 forward out of LSU has averaged 8.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. For the Knicks, he is averaging only two points and 2.4 rebounds per game this season.

i am all for d'antoni not playing randolph until he demonstrates the ability to fit into the offense and defense that d'antoni wants him to show but in no way do i want to give up on AR yet - he oozes talent and i saw the guy be a heck of a college player who has the ability to play every position on the court. some tough love is just what a player like AR could use to humble himself and in the long run could really help his career. i hope this isn't true.

The thing with AR is that he needs guidance or a mentor to show him what to do to become a special player. If he is not attaching himself to Amare by now and not getting anything from Amare then I am afraid AR will never reach his true potential.

I don't want to give up on AR either but if you are going to trade him, Minnesota currently has the 3rd worst record in the NBA. Do not let them protect it.

SELL HIGH!!!
If AR goes to Minny, I think he will do much better than he has shown here. Similar to Darko who is playing far better there than he did for us. Mainly because he has been given a chance. We aren't ready to put the time in to develop AR. We need someone who can add to the team's competitiveness now. Like Melo. or a strong defensive center. or a back-up PG. The trade would be a win-win-win situation.
Go to it Donnie.

I still like the idea of Jonny Flynn. I watched him play against the Spurs the other day. Flynn has a great handle, had no trouble getting to the rim against one of the best defensive teams in the league, and he can shoot the 3.

Flynn is coming off an injury and getting his game back. He could come off the bench and Play PG or SG depending on the situation. Rubio is playing in the NBA next year, they have Ridnour starting so he is expendable. Flynn would be an upgrade over TD and provide some much needed offense from the guard position off the bench.

well if the pick is unprotected then by all means please make the trade, but i would guess it's for a pick next year?

I wouldn't be averse to lotto protection this year, than maybe top 5 protected next year and unprotected the year after. We did something like that with our Marbs pick.
