Amare was quoted the other day, he said "we can be a Eastern Conference Contender as is, we don't need much". MDA didn't disagree when told of his comments, at first thought I'm like this dude is sipping his own Kool aid. After watching last night game, I'm starting to sip a little.

As long as we don't meet the Fire Nation until the ECC then I think we have a very good chance of making it to the ECC.

So far... no. We wont be able to beat the Heat bc we havent yet. However, we can get there very soon if Donnie plays this right.

Contender, yes. Champion, not so sure.

Look, we're right up there with the 2nd tier already. I'd like our chances against Chicago or Atlanta in a series. With one or two upgrades to the rotation, I think we can beat Boston and Orlando (who I see as 2 of the 3 elite teams in the conference). Miami, though I hate to acknowledge it, is a step above. Not sure we'd be able to beat them even with an upgrade at center and back-up pg. But, who knows -- we'd be close. Plus, they could be injured or have a key guy do something stupid and get thrown out of a game or two -- if we're close, sometimes strange things happen and the best team doesn't always win.

Heat are 20-1 since being 9-8, I don't care if they played the cavs 21 times, thats still ridiculously impressive. However, it's won't be the same in a series where you have much more time to prepare and focus. If Boston is healthy the heat have no shot against them, personally I would rather deal with the celts and the hawks. I think we match up pretty well with them despite the Celts bigs.

Not as is, but what can still be.

Yeah, we don't need much. But we need what we need.

In both of the games, Bosh was a higher X factor than what we thought he would be. Too many free shots. Wade, althought scoring 40, was not as big a factor. LeCon was somewhat contained, not like the first game where his jumper was hot. If we pay more attention to the little back breaker putbacks or chip shots, we can compete with these guys. I'm looking for better outcomes as we match up again

Standing Tall and Walking The Walk

The Answer Man agrees with having a player bold enough to say "the Knicks are back" who goes on the court and backs it up.

Who are we, merely pounding on a keyboard, to question him?

we can't get by the Heat. or the Magic, I don't think. or the Celtics - but we'd give them a hell of a series. East is tough now. We're still chasing the Hawks and Bulls, too.

there's no question this group can continue to improve from within and they don't need much to be very good. But they need a big man and a backup point guard. and, i think to be truly elite, one more guy who can create his own shot from the wing.

time will tell... the thing the Knicks have most of the teams in front of us dont have is youth that is both contributing right now and has unrealized potential. Chandler/Gallo/Fields/ arew all 22 years old I believe. All playing big minutes. All getting better as the season progresses, all versatile young guys that cause matchup problems at both ends. I think this is just as talented as the 50+ win Suns team than went to the West finals without Amare.

Those teams played small and certainly proved they could beat bigtime teams in the postseason. I think these Knicks are tougher and better defensively. What Felton gives up to Nash on offense he wins back with great defense. If the Knicks continue this commitment to defense, stay healthy and continue to improve as they have they can (and will) advance in the playoffs. If it ended today we would get the Bulls in rthe 3-6 matchup and I think we win that.

Pretty good considering how young we are and how bad we have sucked for the last 8+ years etc

I like Amar'e's confidence....but hell no are we Eastern Conference Champs as is. The biggest upset we could pull would be to beat the C's in a series, and even that is almost impossible. No way we can beat Orlando or Miami in a 7 game series.

Our bench is kind of taking form. If we can get that one more piece to have a legit big 3 along with rebounding help WHILE keeping 1 or 2 of Wilson, Gallo and Fields, then we have a chance.

we have a chance.... not a very good chance but a chance.... there are currently at least 4 teams clearly better than us with a 5th that might be....

if we can get a big so that the other team doesn't play volleyball against the backboard against us then we'd be in the mix....

He's just trying to instill confidence in this group. This is what star players do, that's all.

"We don't need much" leaves a lot of room. I gather that the sentiment of the team is that they don't want major changes. If we traded AR for Sessions or something on that level... that's not shaking up the team, but would upgrade the bench at two positions.

There are a decent amount of Sessions types out there.

Center is certainly tougher to upgrade in this system. You have to bring in a player who will actually fit/earn minutes.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

he's done it. Felton is outplaying the star PGs on a nightly basis. Fields, Chandler, Gallo, etc... these guys believe they will win every game they come out and be aggressive and defend. When you look at some of the wins this year (Chix2, OKC, NO, SA, to name a few) I would say Amare is 100% right. Knicks are pretty close to being a tom team. I just think they need more experience. Chandler/Gallo/Fields... all 22 years old (Chandler might be 23.. you get the idea)

I don't think we need a Melo type right now - -we can use our assets in a number of different ways that we can get close to the elite.

I think we match up better against the Western Conference teams(except the Lakers) than the EC Elite(Boston,Miami,Orlando).

Seems like we have trouble against the Big, Strong Teams and would rather play the PHX's, SA's, Portlands of the world. I say we'll beat Utah tonight - -Amare is due for a Monster Game -- a little worried about Felton's ankle though.

been saying it : Good Center, Back-up point sharpshooting 2 guard.

GO KNICKS
