Hey guys,

I've been a long-time lurker on this forum, now looking to get involved. I'm a 22 y/o journalism student from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. As there is no one to share my passion with down here, I am hoping you guys can all help fill that void ;)

For now, I thought I'd say hi!

@TMS: I would like to try to avoid any prison sentences if I can. However, I'd be happy to show anyone the good spots if they ever come over here..

I am, uh, told that Barney's Breakfast Bar used to be a favorite, but they got way too big. I have, uh, heard that Rokerij is good. Where do you go? I also heard they're going to ban tourists from enjoying?

Rokerij is pretty decent! Most coffeeshops in the Dam Square area rip off tourists for up to 4x the usual price. Dampkring is probably your best bet in Central Amsterdam.
A tourist ban has been in the works since I moved here, however nothing has materialized yet. The city seems to be more concerned about limiting the hard stuff..

I would like to take this opportunity to say hi as well. I am a loooong time lurker from canada. I've been to new york only once, but i've been a knicks fan since the early 90's.

call it fate - but i literally just finsished booking my trip to amsterdamn on feb 19th...staying at the flying pig downtown hostel - how about some of those suggestions ;)
