I am watching the Knicks' rotations without Gallo and they seem MUCH quicker. Not sure if it is BECAUSE Gallo is out that I am noticing this or if it's just something that has popped up just recently and I have only noticed this the past 2 games.

Gallo seems good 1-on-1 and certainly moves his feet to collect charges, etc. But, getting from one side of the lane all the way out to the 3-point line is another kind of quickness. Or doubling down and returning to your man, same thing.

Anyone else notice or want to comment about the Knicks rotating D? Just feels better to me in the last few games.

i think that's a good observation... i think Shawne Williams is quicker to rotate out to the shooters... i think Gallo is a better on ball defender than Williams like u mentioned, he's got quicker feet going side to side & uses his length well to get up on his man & disrupt the shot, but it takes him a little longer to react sometimes on defensive rotations.

i also realized in the past few games just how awful Bill Walker is on defense... it's a good thing he was knocking down his 3's tonight otherwise he'd have been a total liability.

Walker is awful on D. Williams is smarter. But the comparison I would make is to Chandler. He is quick, strong and seems to be making the right decisions. It's part of the reason I am now on the keep Chandler and if need be trade Gallo for Melo boat.

i agree to a certain extent, i don't think Williams is especially quick but he does make quick decisions on defensive rotations... i also think Fields is our quickest defender rotating out to shooters on the perimeter... i don't remember one time tonight i saw him leave a shooter wide open without rushing out to contest... having 2 athletic guys like Fields & Wilson on the wings helps us recover out to open shooters... Wilson is also definitely our best post defender w/Turiaf coming in a close second... my hope is that Mozgov can be groomed into becoming a solid low post defender... he seems to have the moxy in him & isn't shy about contact... the little elbow shot he gave to Robin Lopez was good to see... he needs to bring more of that attitude to the floor when he gets a chance to play.

Too early to say...The Spurs game the defense was horrible by both teams...The Spurs are old(Duncan and RJ)...Nash, Carter and Hill are their best players..enough said...But all that said, I'm seeing better ball movement...But you can't give up on Gallo yet...Gallo definitely has a role on this team...Denver doesn't want any talent they have to pay...They want to start over thru the draft which is cool...Lets bring Gallo off the bench as a featured scorer and start Williams???..Might be too early for that too...

The D looks the same to me. IMO The team has been progressively improving in terms of their switching and rotations and communication. This team chemistry is great, because Mike has really tightened up the rotation. Some complain about that, but it's the surest way to have great defensive chemistry. You have fewer missed rotations when you have players who are totally familiar with each other.

With so few really dominant bigs in the league, Mike's choice to play small is actually not a bad idea. The only thing is that you still want to make sure you at least have some bigs you can use to matchup a little when and if you face a team like LA or Boston. Still for the most part Mike is all about forcing teams to play at his pace and so I don't know if we'll ever really see him too concerned about the rebounding issue and size problems we have. We stink at rebounding and yet still are one of the better teams in the league right now. I think even in the past Mike's teams weren't strong rebounding and it didn't matter for the most part.

The only problem with Gallo being hurt is that Williams' minutes off the bench now go to Walker.
