Would have to be either "The Captain" Willis Reed or Clyde Frazier. When it came to step up, they stepped up especially during the Finals. Both of them got 2 rings on their fingers.

Clyde.

Willis was the soul.

Earl was the music.

Dave was the warrior.

Bill was the philosopher.

Phil was the pot head.

Caz-zie was on another planet.

Bernard! He had no supporting cast. Always overmatched ... against some of the best teams in history. What a warrior. 6'7'', 205 lb. guy posted up. Dude could score. Loved the way he made the net swish on his little turnaround.

Walt "Clyde" Frazier

Most of you are too young to remember but clearly the Knick teams of the late 60's and early 70's were the best teams ever and Clyde was the fulcrum of the team. Bill Bradley said it best when he declared that the ball belonged to Clyde-that he just let the others play with it once in a while.

Clyde was fairly slow but moved his feet smartly, he had great hands and rarely was an offensive force during the first three periods. But when the fourth quarter started, if the need was there, took over.

The old knicks had a habit of burying the opposition in the third period but they didn't, there was Clyde.

Clyde slow? Everyone looked slow next to Earl.

I think you meant that "Clyde was so smooth, he flowed".........

and while rushing water looks smooth, its dangerous!

He was usually first team all defensive, top five in assists and steals, and could shoot the daylights out.

And, he was cool.

I like my players to keep their heads together. Concentrate on the game, not the injustice of the moment.

does anyone wish they were older so that they could have actually seen and then rememeber the Knicks of the 70's?

Would gladly trade memories of the great teams of the late 60's early 70's to be a bit younger. BTW Clyde was quick but was slower compared to most top point guards. His hands, head and quickness made up for slow foot speed.
