Look at the ending of his most recent at Knicks Nation:

The point is, D'Antoni doesn't try to match up to the opponent. He wants the opponent to match up to him. Call him crazy but he least he sticks to what he believes in.

So yes, go ahead and trade for a big man and a back-up point guard. Just don't promise them playing time when they get here because you'd probably be lying to them.

Carmelo, of course, is a different story. And just maybe the story of 2011 for the Knicks.

Wow. Great points there. One, I love Coach Mike for his philosophy. You match up to me, guy, because that's how we roll. And it works, for the most part. And then Isola is right when he says go ahead and trade for a big, but he won't play. Finally, he points out that we need Melo, and I agree. We can't let Gallo go for Melo though.

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

ehehe, that was good. But I think if Mos was ready to play he would be getting lots of minutes. He is exactly the kind of big for this system - athletic and can shoot. His defense can be great in time, he is already altering lots of shots (if I can remember back that far )

Going small, in particular using S. WIll as the C forced Howard into a weird position. He ended up away from the basket often. Mike's ploy worked in that we got back into the game and if not for some really clutch shooting by Turkeyglue etc. we might've pulled it out. That team is deeper than the Knicks and playing without Amar'e hurt us. I can only imagine what this team could do with a player like Melo roaming around as you're trying to worry about Felton and Amar'e PnR!!! It's a shame that we can't get Denver to play ball with us.

I can see Donnie going in 2 directions and i'd be alright with it. I'm sure he'd LOVE to get Melo, but I think he's prepared to go with simply adding a C and SG/PG off the bench. We have no control over the Melo thing, but i'm positive we can make a deal for help with rebounding and a guy that can run the offense better than TD. IF TD was left to be a scorer off the bench he'd be much more effective. He should only have to think about scoring, given his talents.
