we all know the story of toney but we have yet been told the story of rautins, give him a try, a minute here a minute there, to spell felton. would it be devastating and cause the knicks to lose? no. plus it beats waiting around for a trade for a backup pg.

No it wasn't. This is why Felton had to play 40 minutes.

Douglas does nothing but dribble the ball in one spot for 15 seconds and then pass it. He rarely creates for his teammates and does not know how to run an offense.

If he was asked to just play as a shooting guard, he'd be doing great at this point. He can flat out score and also play defense.

Felton gets minutes when he's on the floor with TD and not carrying the whole load. I'm not worried about 40 minutes when you have days between games. You don't get worn down by playing 40 minutes, it's when you do it without proper rest. Remember these guys also practice for hours too. It's about recovery time. Earlier in the season we didn't have many days off and the brutal schedule had a lot of bac2bac games. Now we have a more spread out schedule. Don't worry about the minutes at this point. He's still strong at the end of games which shows he's not overexerting himself.

im worried about in-game forty minutes. it really doesnt matter if they have a month off. if in-game any of our top five is playing 40, to me that needs to be worked on to reduce minutes. plus it is a sign of (needless) desperation imho, when we have bench players to reduce the mins.

when his shot is on, it is on. plus he has been playing good defense with a beat up body and never once beech to the press. +1.

Douglas will have to continue to develop his offensive skills because he has no abilities to run an offense.

For the most part, right now Felton, Fields, TD are splitting all guard minutes. And TD isn't 100% and still learning PG position.

I thought TD did well today (played well last game too). First game in a while where I thought his speed and tenacity was there pressuring other guards. And it's the second game in a row where he hit a pull-up 10 footer like he did regularly last season - very nice. And he was able to match foot speed with Rose every once in a while too.

I saw some progress in the last 2 games. He's getting better from what i can see. There's a more conscious effort to get his teammates involved. We need to give it time and allow our guys to continue to develop. We forget just how young this team is.

Nah, TJ's right..it was better today..TD set up Turiaf a few times on the pick and role. Gotta give credit where credit's due.

Because he is a young kid and the knicks had two days off before the game and after. Donnie will get a backup point guard for a 10 minutes a night soon.

Jason Williams isn't great but he will do. Even someone like Anthony Johnson. You can pick a guy off here and there. No reason to bring someone in for $4MM

But why hasn't this move gotten done year. We have been saying for weeks that the Knicks need a backup PG. Cut Mason, and pick up a guy like Johnson or Brevin Knight. These are experienced guys that can run the team for 10 minutes a game easily. Let Douglas just focus on defense and scoring as he clearly is not a pg.

Trust the Process

I guess we can cross him off of wish list:

Jason Williams hinting at retirement due to foot pain

Jason Williams may have played his last game as a member of the Orlando Magic. He is staying behind from Magic’s upcoming back-to-back road trip to get tests done.

He has an arthritic foot and told the Orlando Sentinel doctors are telling him there is not a lot they can do, he told the Orlando Sentinel.

“I’m not so sure that I won’t be able to play ever again,” Williams told the Orlando Sentinel before tipoff (Saturday). “It’s not getting better, and they say it’s not going to get any better. I’ve still got a long life to live, so we’re going to see a day at a time. I don’t know.”

Coach Stan Van Gundy was not much more optimistic.

“It’s not getting any better,” Van Gundy said. “J-Will gets on it and he has a hard time pushing off that foot. He’s staying behind. He wants to know what’s going on.

“I think he’s a little nervous about it right now.”

Williams has not played in the last four Magic games and will now sit out two more at least. He is behind Jameer Nelson, Gilbert Arenas and Chris Duhon on the depth chart right now.

White Chocolate is in his 12th NBA season.

Felton has been a warrior for us, WAY exceeding my expectations when he signed. He's our PG for now and the future if he keeps this up. But if we don't get him a backup to drop his minutes to under 35mpg, he'll break down for sure.

Come on Donnie, work this out. Tell Melo it's FA this summer or go sign an extension in NJ. We're not breaking up this terrific team to add your high-scoring, defense-lacking ass, no matter if you are a "superstar". And get us a backup point and Earl Barron.

why is felton still playing 40 minutes?
