All this talk about a lack of depth on the roster Donnie Walsh has built has the Knicks' president a bit defensive.
"All the depth hasn't played, so you don't know," he said.

its on now sukka!

if that is not a clear message from don godfather donnie to mike the bullheaded d'antoni. then im just not using enough italian stereotypes to get my point across.

I think this is not as serious as you make it out to be. For one thing Mike and Donnie talk all the time about the progress of the rest of the roster, they've said that in recent articles. The development of AR is on going, as is Rautins an Timo. Then you have AZ who is still trying to make a comeback, but Mike said he didn't expect him back until after Christmas.

All I get from this is that they intend to stay the course until the Deadline, if they can't get Denver to move on Melo. Also we have to at least recognize that Turiaf is not 100%. He wasn't gonna play a ton of minutes even if he was 100%. TD they say has been battling back issues and who knows if he's 100% either. I suspect that they think these guys will eventually get better, so there's no panic from Donnie. I think he's knows that we'll get a chance to see some of the other bench guys get in there. Case in point is that we had no idea about Williams until he recently got a chance to play. That is what Donnie is talking about. He's thinking maybe one of the bench guys gets going and provides the help we need. There's no reason to panic at this point.

and then this happened:

But Walsh quickly ruined that by continuing his thought, supporting Mike D'Antoni's decision to stick to a limited rotation during the last four weeks.

"We've played a short rotation and understandably so, because we're trying to win games," Walsh said. "We started off 3-8 and went to a short rotation and it worked."

That is still a strong statement from Walsh. I think he feels the guys he brought in can play and that some should be playing. He takes a hands off approach and has been loyal and protected D'Antoni without question. At some point he might get a bit frustrated that big acquisitions like lottery picks and the guy he thought might be one of the best players in the 08 draft can't get minutes.

didn't walsh recently say he'll be 'evaluating' the support cast? he's gonna need to see them so they know what they've got.

whether it's an issue between coach and gm or not, the ostensible lack of depth is an issue that needs to be addressed.

first off i find it offensive that you use such a big word. ffs im a knicks fan, small words pls. secondly, donnie says we dont know if we have depth issues cause that evil bastid mike refuses to play our players for us to see. he may have left out the words evil bastid, but his message is clear.

I think that when it comes to why Mike isn't playing certain guys, it's something that they are talking more about this year as opposed to in the past. I think they've long since worked out any kinks in their own communication. The was Donnie built the roster looks like he had Mike's need in mind the entire way. He knows that the team was young and Mike commented on that as being an issue this year that could mitigate how much success the team has. All we're seeing is the realization of the Youth Mike was concerned about. No big mystery to solve. Guys just aren't ready.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/21/sports/basketball/21knicks.html?_r=1

“We’ll see who takes the challenge,” D’Antoni said of finding other backups worthy of playing time.

But is there any relief coming from players like Timofey Mozgov, Anthony Randolph, Bill Walker and Roger Mason Jr.? Walsh said he did not know.

“I don’t know because all the depth hasn’t played,” Walsh said in reference to the limited time those players had received.

“I think the guys have done a great job of keeping themselves in shape,” Stoudemire said of the numerous Knicks who have not really been playing. “Whenever their number is called, they will be ready.”

ok so the way i read this stat quote, he is clearly calling for mike to either play the bench or be fired. clear as day both donnie and stat are highly mad at mike for his rotation. next up i want to read what tina cervasio has to say, cause this losing streak has taken a toll on her looks.

btw props to nyt sports writer jonathan abrams for perfect use of the donnie quote, alan hahn take note.

lots of depth my ass... all I know is when Amar'e is out of the game this team sucks giant donkey dong and there's no relief for Felton. There's a bunch of swingmen. There's the pupu platter in terms of a true SG and at C. Yeah, this lineup just screams depth

Nixluve! you sure are a Mike D luva. He stinks up the place and his ego is so big that he would rather loose a game than to play AR. If he put the kid in now AR would be so confused because he would be afraid that he would make a mistake.
