No-brainer. Earl Clark Malik Allen + a 2013+1 pick lottery protected. Move Mosgov back to his 12 minute bench role and clear the 4.3mm off the books.

We need Ryan Anderson from Orlando. He would excel. Do some numbers on that.
WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

I didn't know Allen was still in the league. Anderson would be nice but I can't see the Magic moving him.

I think they are just poking around. Nothing much going on here. They are interested but have nothing to offer.

http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/12/20/report-magic-call-about-knicks-ronny-turiaf-as-backup-center/

One of the clear issues for the Magic after their weekend mega-trades (or at least mega-salary trades) was at backup center. They went from having one of the best in the league with Marcin Gortat, to having Earl Clark. Which is tough in a conference where you want to beat the Boston Celtics.

The Magic are already looking to fill that gap by calling the Knicks about Ronny Turiaf and the Philadelphia 76ers and Tony Battie, according to FanHouse. They are offering Chris Duhon as trade bait.

It would be interesting to see if the Knicks would bring Duhon back after he had an up-and-down relationship with Mike D’Antoni. The Knicks are looking for a backup point guard for Raymond Felton, but would they part with a big who is backing up Amare Stoudemire to do it (another area they want more help)? Turiaf played well for the Knicks at the start of the season but had his production slowed after he sprained his knee. An injury he has continued to play through.

Battie is the more likely option, if the Sixers are interested.

Why would we trade our only productive big guy off the bench for a small when our biggest problem is interior defense?

We have to accept that Mosgov has got to play some minutes--if not now then when? We dont need Turriaf and I think we can do a deal to get another big--not necessarily a C but a PF.

Taking the 4.3mm off the books is a no-brainer--that basically allows us to keep Chandler and have an additional 20mm to spend.

Couldn't you get a backup PG another way? And if you want to trade Turiaf as a salary dump couldn't you wait until later in the season and then deal from a position of strength to a playoff team that needs a productive big man for their playoff run. And if you are going to trade Turiaf for a back up PG, wouldn't you secure another big man first? Again I ask why trade Turiaf for a back up Pg at this point. Is Duhon coveted?

let's put it this way... if DW traded away AR & a 2013 lottery protected pick for Turiaf, you'd be calling for his head on a platter... & so would i

i agree bip - turiaf is the only backup mike trusts. you cant get rid of him unless you are willing to re-invest in timo - for like 15-20 minutes a game? mike wasnt ready to do this before. what;s changed?

Actually, I think ORL would do it in a second, but dont think the Knicks would. They need someone behind Bass and Howard as a big.

yea im with blue we need turiaf, we just dont need turiaf and toney as our total bench output.

that is the only favor a trade gives to ny, makes mda actually have to look at his bench.

I was thinking the same. Turiaf to Orlando.

Not sure they want to take on more cap but he is an upgrade off the bench and are all in NOW!!!

Duhan for 20 min a nite is not a bad option.

if they have a no. 1 pick, Yeah I would take it!

Time for Timo to step it up.

Turiaf is great, but he needs less minutes.
