Coach Mike is the man, but, would you agree, most of you, the detractors, would you say that he's like a Ferrari- really awesome, very fast, complex not complicated, and worth the cash money; but not practical. And you have Jerry Sloan, who isn't fancy pants but rocks and rolls.

What's up, Coach Mike can win, but you have to trim off the hate that you would normally throw at a coach that has a more standard approach, he needs more breathing room because he's so fancy, Mr. Fancy Pants.

What's up, what's up? What is it, what does it do?

No, no haiku.

I can break it down in English.

Coach Mike brings an unorthodox approach to the game. The average fan can't dig this because he feels safe in his cocoon of traditional ruffian hoops, ala JVG, Riley, and Brown. The average driver can't handle a Ferrari, he would be most at home with a Toyota. Drunk or not, some drivers can drive drunk, others can't. So Coach Mike is a Ferrari because the repair bills are very high, you have to realize he's not practical at the moment but he has the stuff champions are made of. He can win the Grand Prix.

Man, Blob...pass the bong. I like MDA and I think he gets a lot of hate around these parts from people with an inherent "blue collar style of play" bias. But don't go knockin on Jerry Sloan, he is one of the truly the best.

No one is knocking Sloan, he's That Ninja. But I'm just using him as a reference point, like a point on a wall when you're doing some statics. And you do the momentum about a point.

So you're digging what I'm saying, that Coach Mike gets extra hate because of his New Age approach (but really, truly it's Old School, it's just that the Standard replaced what was Original and made the Original seem like it's from outer space)?

That's what I'm saying. It's Old School but it's been usurped by ruffian frauds.

Yeah I am witchooo. But MDA does have a higher burden of proof than your average coach. For one thing he is a foreigner and for another he teaches unconventional style. Most fans rooted in tradition cannot deal with even one of those leave alone both in combination. Is it fair? Absolutely not, but we can discuss that till we are blue in the face (or orange) and it wont change one damn thing. MDA has set the bar high for himself knowingly or not, I cannot say. But if he wants to earn respect here he's gotta go further than the rest. That's just life.

I see where you're coming from. You dig what I'm saying, that's cool, because I see what you're saying too.

Absolutely, it comes down to a hostile fanbase that isn't ready to accept what Coach Mike brings to the table. At the end of the day, does this mean Coach Mike is bogus? No. It just means that the host organism might not be ready to accept such a radical (and it's sad to call it radical as it is really bringing back the Original Ways) approach to the game.

I guess it's a bunch of closed-minded old farts, and it's crazy because they're mostly Liberals, a group which puts up the face of an open-minded collective ready to soak the soap in, be clean.

I think of D'Antoni more like a Ferrari mechanic and the team being the car. You give him high performance parts and he will have them running at peak performance. If you give him lesser quality parts, don't expect much. Larry Brown would be an old Ford mechanic who can take stock parts and turn it in into a street rod.
