This is such a no-brainer: for my money if they refuse to intergrate Randolph (he should be the first choice), the plan has got to be cut Mason Jr and immediately call up Chris Johnson or Courtney Sims for frontline help. These are the best two centers in the NBDL at the moment, both very productive..Remember we're not looking for Hakeem Olajuwon here -- we're looking for competent 2-way play off the bench outta of a guy standing 6'11", a guy that could play both PF or C and spell Amar'e & Turiaf or play right alongside either guy (each guy has legit offensive skills that would enable Mike to play either alongside Turiaf allowing Amar'e to get more rest than he's been getting).. Oh yeah, neither would cost anything to bring up and try out -- nominal money, no assets required.. Sliding either guy into Mason's spot would have no impact on anything else we eventually decide to do from now right up until the trading deadline & beyond, whether it be a major trade for Carmelo Anthony or something else..I understand Sims has gotten a couple of cracks in the NBA so far since graduating Michigan a few years back but honestly, how much of a chance did he really have each time? They were all small cups of coffee which makes it impossible to gauge what he can & can't do at this level -- for instance, I don't know if Sims ever even got into a game with us when we called him up in '09. Tell you what though, I was at a game when we called this guy up from the DL -- you know this guy didn't miss one jumpshot in warmups..Not one. All smooth as silk, all net..This dude's averaging 19.5 & 8.8 on almost 64% from the floor

..You gotta be doing something right to come up with numbers like that, no?? Give either guy a real shot here with a 10-day contract -- what could it hurt? [For the record I also think FA center Dwayne Jones could help us--he may not be the scorer these guys are but he's NBA experienced and has been a dominant rebounder and dirty work guy wherever he's been].. We could only benefit by it. Both Johnson & Sims offer legit two-way skills as far as scoring the ball & rebounding goes..Looks like Johnson also offers a big shot-blocking element although he's a good 30-40 lbs lighter than Sims. Sims might be the smoother offensive player (although CJ appears to have better range out to the 3-pt line); Johnson also might be the better athlete..For what we need right now, either guy would fit..I really want Donnie to pick one of the two and make the move already..Do it before both guys are off the table and then we're forced to surrender assets and look elsewhere for help.
