since 11/28. (last 3 weeks).

ridiculous and unacceptable. d'antoni has to play mozgov and randolph. yeah, they are going to make boneheaded moves. so be it. giving stoudemire 6 minutes off per game is a recipe for disaster. we are already seeing it with tonight's performance against cleveland.

and this on a guy who's had major reconstructive knee surgery AND whose contract is uninsured. it should be a team mandate -- if jim dolan's tiny little head wasn't so far up his fat ass, i'd imagine an owner would have something to say about it. (i.e. we have 100 large invested in this ****ing guy, give him a breather every now and then!)

has turned out to be a pretty damn stubborn coach. last year we had nate, jordan hill, and darko all sitting on the bench while hired guns who for sure wouldn't be on the team the next year (larry hughes, al harrington, et al) inexplicably played big minutes. say what you want about those guys, but nate is contributing on a team that has championship aspirations while we have felton playing 40+ a night because we don't have a backup PG. darko and hill, whatever, they are duds but why weren't they playing AT ALL last year? hill especially, you take him 8th overall on a team that is so deprived of any talent and then he racks up like 40 DNP-CDs before getting dealt in a salary cap move. what is that about?

this year we have randolph (who averaged 11/6/1.5 last year in 20mpg!!!!!!!) languishing on the bench along with mozgov. mozgov is from russia and has never lived outside of russia. presumably there's going to be a learning curve, especially since the rules are SO different, especially for a big man (different zone, different rules about charges, goaltending, etc). MDA gives up on him two weeks into the season and already turiaf's gone down twice with injuries and stoudemire is wearing down and its NOT EVEN CHRISTMAS!

if the celtics, who have championship aspirations, can play F-ing erden for 15 minutes why can't mozgov get any burn? if nate can get minutes on a championship contender and BE RELIED ON off the bench, why couldn't we rely on him? i'd much rather have him than billy walker, who also never gets any time.

its just inexplicable. i don't understand the reasoning. the thought process is "we only have 8 guys" is comical and embarassing that he says it with a straight face. if i were a reporter covering the team i'd have a hard time not laughing. the C's didn't play only 6 guys against us b/c shaq and JO were out. they used other players.

you have 15 players on the team mike. you are allowed to play all of them!

Turiaf has already broken down and now plays ten minutes with knee brace instead of 30 minutes. Amare has a sore neck and is the most atheletic guy to ever overcome microfracture surgery. He is intense and goes balls out every minute he is on the court. His minutes need to be limited by the coach before the all star break or his career could be shortened. D'Antoni gets drunk with the idea of winning and his focus is day to day instead of big picture (i.e. last year). He may need his gm to control him. Similar to Larry Brown who needs a gm that denies his desire to make trades every month, D'Antoni may need a gm to control the minutes he is allowed to play his 100 million dollar player because he could destroy him long before he fulfills his contract.

It seems like all the rotation guys are playing
through a varying degree of injuries, which will
only get worse if Pringles keeps riding them like
rented mules.

i'm not for giving mozgov burn. he is horrible and doesn't exactly have much of a track record.

randolph needs to find some PT.

I agree. Randolph has accomplished some things in the NBA previously to being hurt, and scowled at and screamed at every time he makes a mistake. He is the youngest guy on the team and D'Antoni's guy to yell at. He needs a chance and a different approach. Its not his fault that he is the youngest guy and the only one the coach feels comfortable confronting. He needs minutes and approval from a coach. He played for a freak in golden state and is playing for a guy that struggles to confront anyone but for some reason has picked him out as the kid he is going to man up to.

Mos isn't ready to get major minutes but when he played defense he totally changed the other teams approach as he usually gets a block and alters many shots. It's when catching the ball that he gets nervous.

Mos should play some time at center to save Amares Knees. To say Mos shouldn't play 10 minutes a game when Amare is running around as much as he is is just silly and sounds like the coach going just for wins. Pay now or pay later.

AR should also see time. We are not going to win the title, so we might as well develop what we have.

D'Antoni is treating this team like a rental car. I'm wondering when Walsh is going to tell him to stop running this team into the ground when there is so much of the season still left.

It's not Coach Mike. Look, there's no one to back these guys up. And his job is to win. He's doing his job. It's on the GM to get guys that can ball.

Don't tell me AR can ball. He can't. Just because he got time on a bum Warriors squad doesn't mean he has any place on a winning club. That's what Coach Mike runs, winning clubs. Don't give me this garbage. His job is on the line, it's his last year.

If Coach Mike plays the bums like AR and Moz more and loses more games, you know what you guys would be saying? "Oh, Coach Mike sucks!!! He can't win with this roster!!".

Please. Get out of town, quickly, don't even pack your bags on a tractor.

Those clips might show what Randolph was doing in previous seasons, but this season he has been terrible in the minutes he has gotten. I wouldn't play him in any winnable games, but with the schedule as it is, there should be some blowouts where he can be inserted and show whether he can play on a D'Antoni team.

If D'Antoni wants to play his uptempo style, he needs a 10-man rotation.
Don't care who they are, but ten guys have to hit the floor each night.
Especially on back-to-backs. You need to learn to trust Pringles!
Hopefully, they learn from their mistakes.

I trust in Pringles.

Your quote is great, I am reminded of another with a similar sentiment, to paraphrase, "sometimes an intelligent fella has to be drunk to hang with fools".

There have been times when I expected to see some of the athleticism Randolph is noted for, but for us he has been a pretty pedestrian player so far. I've been amazed at how many times he's put up weak shots and not finished well. I have to think that his ankle issue was more serious than any of us expected.

Turiaf is the only GS player to give use anything this year, and he's also been slowed down by injury. These 3 guys were the players who should have been providing us with significant depth. Their failure to do so has been a major issue for MDA and our rotation.

Posted this on an earlier thread about the same topic.

I swear I remember when we signed Amare, MDA talked about how he had to limit his minutes since he was a 5 year, $100m investment.

And the year sorta started out that way, but has been down since.

Coaches job is to win, but coaches job is also to get to the play offs and win there.

Sometimes, you have to sacrifice short term for longer term benefit.

Its not the season average as much as it hurts to go 40 mins in a night in back to backs or 3 games in 4 or 5 days. We have to be careful about bunching together serious mintues b/c what results are flat, tired efforts. The Cavs game would've been the perfect game to go 10 deep and open up the bench a bit.
