There has been plenty of scuttlebutt in the past about the potential of Gilbert Arenas being traded to Orlando due to his friendship with Magic general manager Otis Smith. Well, that may actually come to fruition. The Washington Post reports the Wizards and Magic are in serious trade negotiations to hammer out a deal that will send Arenas to Orlando.
"It's very close. A really strong possibility," a source told the newspaper.
"The Magic realizes they have to make a move. They have to do something," the source added. "It seems like it's about the right time."
On Tuesday Arenas reportedly told people close to him that a deal could be in the works that would send him to Orlando or Charlotte.
There are no other details about the potential deal, however Vince Carter would probably be part of it from Orlando's end. Carter's contract expires after the 2011-12 season, however the $18.3 million salary for next year can be bought out for $4 million.
According to Yahoo! Sports, the Magic are also trying to make another deal to make room for Arenas and his huge contract.
Arenas is making $17.73 million this season and is owed another $62.42 million for three more years until 2014.
