12/15 BS Report. Not really sure how to link it but if you go to the ESPN main page, right below the main picture there is a Sports Guy section where you can find the link.

"no way that the Knicks can make you a deal that is any way attractive."

"here's the thing with denver...Denver is taking the position, and i've been told this a number of times, Denver will not take the deal that New York has on the table. They would rather let him walk than take on a bunch of stuff that makes no sense."

It starts at the 6 minute mark.

Don't mean to be redundant with like the 18th Carmelo thread but figured this was relevant just to let everyone know Bucher's position, a guy purportedly "in the know." More credence to the idea that this will only happen as Denver feels the heat and the trade deadline further approaches. A whole podcast on Melo, which should satisfy everyone's daily Melo scoop.

Go Knicks Beat the 3 Stooges!

Bucher was a complete moron on the podcast. I listened to the whole thing, he contradicted himself a few times in it.

His logic of the Nuggets would rather let Melo walk with nothing as opposed to accepting Gallo was stupid. When push comes to shove and its right before deadline, there is no way Denver wont want at least .30 on the dollar as opposed to getting a trade exception in the offseason

These media guys get used like this all the time. What he's saying is what Denver wants everyone to hear. But does Bucher actually believe that Denver would rather let Melo walk for nothing than take Gallo or Chandler plus Curry, pick, etc.? Now I'm not saying we need to make a deal for Carmelo but if push comes to shove Denver makes a deal instead of losing him for nothing. They'd be crazy not to.

Hmm, Boulder is pretty freaking sweet IMHO. So is the front range, Long's Peak, insane skiing and climbing, and hotties around every corner. Heck, if it had a lot more variety in its deciduous vegetation I'd probably move there.

And Coors Light is disgusting, though they have fun commercials.

Coors light = water and even sucks ass for Beer Pong. Bug Light is better for that.

What exactly is the deal the Knicks have on the table? Gallo/Curry... and we've said we'll get 'em a #1 draft pick?

Suppose Carmelo signs with the Knicks as a free agent - the Nuggets with get a trade exemption equal to the value of his last contract (~$16m). This would be similar to what happened with Utah after Boozer bolted. They used that to trade for Al Jefferson. They'll have the flexibility to sign a FA or trade with that amount. Is that correct?

If they took the Knicks offer, they'd end up getting Gallo (with an opportunity to audition him for a long term deal), Eddy Curry's open cap slot (roughly $10m), plus a draft pick.

This is a game of chicken right now.

The Nuggets are hoping Melo gets nervous about not being able to get an extension in NY and settles for NJ.

Melo is hoping the Nuggets get nervous about losing him for nothing on July 1st.

The Nets are hoping that having the best offer, they can convince the Nuggets to deal and convince Melo NJ is almost as good as NY with the chance to build something new and move to BK in a few years.

The Knicks are hoping the Nuggets get nervous and decide to take a solid, but not great offer for Melo.

Whoever has the most to lose. IMHO I think the Knicks have the least to lose.

Denver has the threat of going from playoff team to becoming the CAVS (especially when you consider JR, Melo, KMart can all be gone and Billups is on last trade-able legs).

Melo has $ to lose and possibly his first choice of going to MSG.

Knicks would lose out on elite scorer but could some away with something else just as close (depending on how you weigh defense, big men, bench).

^ martin, i agree the Knicks have the least to lose here, so that's why I hope they don't panic. The TMac trade was a bit of a desperation trade (one I understood and agreed with - I still say we don't get Amare and/or Ray Felton without that deal).

This trade is different. The Knicks don't NEED to make it. Obviously it's a huge jumpstart to their efforts to turn a good team into a great one, but they don't NEED to get Melo the way the Nuggets need to get something for him. The Nets, on the other hand, NEEED Melo desperately for the validation he would give their franchise - that's the equivalent of us getting Amar'e for them. They scare me a little. If Jay-Z and Proko can sweet talk Melo, they might get their way.

I'd love to add Melo, but if it means sacrificing too much I guess I don't mind walking away from the table.

I agree with everything you are saying.

What more are Jay-Z and Proko gonna say to Melo that couldn't have already been said?

You wanna know what the ironic part about the Nets and the way they keep up-ping their offer to Denver to trade for him before the deadline in Feb? It makes the team worse off for when Melo would theoretically arrive, so, in fact, it's counter productive to building a better team; it's like the Nets are bidding against themselves with the cost being a worse team in the long run.
