"Interesting note that I’ve heard. The Knicks are checking in with Earl Clark, who, like Shawne Williams earlier in the year, just signed with the agent of Amar’e Stoudemire.

"Clark has fallen out of the rotation in Phoenix but is a highly skilled big if he has his head on straight." - TDee

"With the acquisition of Josh Childress, Hedo Turkoglu and Hakim Warrick, this decreases Clark's chances of receiving any amount of playing time. Even in the preseason Clark struggled to be apart of the Suns main rotation team, which consisted of about 10 players. At this rate, Clark's chances to enter the rotation is rotting away as this year's Suns draftee Gani Lawal is proving himself." - Vincent Yin

“Earl is a great kid who needs to be looked after a bit, but his heart is in the right place,” a source close to him told me yesterday."

- Tommy Dee

NBADraft.net

Weakness

"His athleticism gets suppressed because he needs a lot of room to explode and he also does not like to attack when contact is coming from helpside (a testament to the low number of attempts at the line) … Makes a lot of careless plays, and leaves his feet frequently to make passes, to the tune of 3.2 TOs per game"

Strength

"A mismatch offensively because he can attack effectively inside and out … Has a great combination of size, strength and speed … His athleticism and explosiveness allow him to play against bigger defenders inside or quicker ones on the perimeter… Possesses a surprisingly quick first step thanks to his extremely long and powerful strides … His high post game has become his niche, because he can back down and outmuscle smaller players, or face up and attack the bigger ones"

The best part

"Defensively, with his physical package, he has the potential to guard 4 positions on the floor"

Sounds like a worse version of Anthony Randolph.

Look, I can't have any headcases here and neither can coach mike. We're both sick of babying grown men. "Looked after?" What type of shhhhhhnitzle is that? Get the heck out of town quickly with that garbage.

When he can act like an adult, act his age, and doesn't need a babysitter, then I'll consider him for my squad.

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

I'm suprised Clark isnt better in the NBA. He was an awesome college player. I figured him to be another Landry Fields type. Maybe doesnt blow you away with anything, but does everything well on both sides of the ball. Earl Clark isnt an alpha player, but he should look GREAT around talent.

I think he would be a GREAT pickup for us. Has the size to do some banging and the skills to help spread the floor and move the ball. That would be really nice piece.

His biggest knock in college was his inconsistent motor. In one of teh games against Uconn his senior year Jeff Adrien intimidated him so badly that I felt bad for him. he completely took him out of the game. I'm not a big fan.

From Draft Express:

The impression you come away with from scouting Clark heavily depends on which day you catch him on. On some nights he looks incredibly active, playing extremely hard, utilizing his athleticism to its fullest, and making very good decisions. On others, he looks completely asleep, disappearing for long stretches and being very passive. Rick Pitino touched on this issue earlier this season without naming Clark specifically: “We've got a lot of guys that have mood swings, and that's why I think we're not reaching our potential right now," Pitino said. "I don't think it has anything to do with basketball, I think it has to do with psychology. That's the unfortunate thing."

With that said, you just can’t ignore the tools Clark possesses and the upside he brings to the table. There are very few players in college basketball with his combination of size, athleticism and length, and very few of them can play at the top of their team’s full-court press, take a rebound coast to coast, and show the type of court vision Clark does. If the light bulb ever truly comes on for him, he could be a mismatch nightmare for opposing teams, and considering that he just turned 21 a month ago, that obviously isn’t out of the question.

A number 14 pick after 1 year in college with the speed and explosiveness to guard 4 positions. He sounds like the kind of big man we should be going after. He won't cost all that much, and seems like an excellent development project that may actually serve to motivate AR by pointing out that his chance to make the Knicks is slipping away. I hope the Knicks go after him.

bippity - your money is worthless in a virtual world. Unless you want to drop a few dollars on Pay Pal of course.

Give the Knicks a 6'11 presence in the middle and you can print the playoff tickets

i watched clark ALOT in college, being a pitino guy i catch Louisville whenever i can.

here's the thing with clark - he's got alot of lamar odom in him, both good and bad. one game you will think the guy can do anything on the basketball court because he can handle the ball, he can distribute, he can shoot, block shots, play good defense, he's a big guy that has the quickness to guard a 2. then the next game the guy will look like complete crap and you are wondering who you watched the game before. this guy needs a serious attitude adjustment or just a coach to really fire him up and get that untapped potential out. the guy could be an all-star if he ever played the way he can consistently so i would take a chance on him, but i wouldn't give up a whole lot to do so.

nyk4ever - you really think Amar'e would tolerate Earl Clark loafing?

Damn, has the Gallinari reverse two handed slam poster arrived back from the printer yet?

It doesn't matter who STAT tolerates. It's who MDA tolerates and if he doesn't tolerate you, you're sitting. If you're a guy who loafs every other games, you're not going to get any playing time whatsoever.

That's what I want, a 6-11 presence in the middle. However, Clark is not the one I want.
