How can we take our 2011 pick back?

When we still have it? They must mean the protection part. If this is true--they were willing to trade Randolph for the rights to take the flip scenario out.

yeah, that wording always bothered me.

Doesn't matter. Knicks did NOT have their own 2010 pick, so they have to make the 2011. And the 2012 is gone and Houston not trading that back to us. End of story.

The reason we can't trade the 2011 one is solely because we don't have a 2012 one. 2010 draft is now passed so whether we had a pick then or not no longer matters. The NBA restriction only applies to future consecutive picks. If we acquire any 2012 pick, we can trade our 2011 and 2013 picks again, which are probably more attractive than a 2014 one.
