SOOOOOO much talk about him and chandler and who is better and who do we keep but what is not discussed is what does Gallo actually morph into?

A big 3?

or Power 4?

At 22 his body type seems to be of power forward. Any comparisons to Dirk or Larry Bird (white guys) has to consider what they looked like at 22. BIrd was still in college and Dirk was still finding his range but both were far more wirey. Gallo to me projects to a power forward.

Which is were we ultimately want to see Amare.

If we accept a melo trade or obtain thru FA for both court time and financial considerations we almost have to think either Gallo or Chandler has to go.

Chandler as PF or Gallo?

Stat wise they are almost the same player.

Gallo is a better passer and gets to the foul line more. Chandler is a stronger slasher and finishes better.

Ultimately who becomes the better defender and rebounder and at what position.

Bring In Melo then what?

-Melo plays the 2 and Fields to the bench (chandler stays and starts with gallo)

-Melo plays the 3, Gallo at the 4 and chandler resigns and to the bench (Not likley)

-Melo plays the 3, Gallo to the bench and Chandler resigns and starts at the 4.

-Melo plays the 3, Gallo to the bench, Moz Starts.

Obviously there are so many variables!

If Gallo doesn't shed his absolute love for the 3-point shot and never develops a post-up game, he will not morph into anything. He will remain this streaky lights-out 3-pt shooter with inconsistencies.

even without a post-up game, if he continues to drive to the hoop for dunks, lay-ups and free throws, as well as continues his trend toward better passing, i think you have the make-up of a very good 3.

Gallo is doing what he is asked to do for this team and he is doing it well. Amare has indicated as such and same with MDA. Amare is beasting right now because Gallo, The Mayor and Fields are opening up the floor for Amare and feeding him the ball at the right times.

gallo is a solid 3. as he gets older and even less quick, he'll have to eventually move to the 4 spot.

right now, he does not rebound well enough as a 4 but as a 3 he fits fine.

Like Peja or Allan Houston? When you shoot it like he does why would you want to stop. That should always be his first and foremost weapon. How good he becomes will be determined by how the other areas of his game improve. We have already seen him slash nicely and throw down some good dunks. We have also seen him use pump fakes to draw contact. I would say he's coming along pretty good, but anytime he gets an open look he should shoot that thing. 40% from 3 = 60% from 2. So long as he's getting good looks fire away

I still see Gallo as a smarter more physical Rashard Lewis. You can consider that stuck between the 3/4 or you can call him versatile.

Does STAT or Howard (Orlando) even have a post up? They got athletic ability and power :).

He has tried it out earlier this season. Its a Jack sikma kinda move. Have not see him try it in 10 games. He is getting to the line going right to the basket They fould him everytime he puts the ball down. That herkey-jerkey thing is unstopable.

In an MDA system he is a 4. His best ability is combination of driving and hitting the 3 pointer, but also diverting the other team's 4 away from the basket. If Melo were to come to Knicks, Melo would be the 4, and Gallo would be the 3, swinging to 4 at time when MDA goes to a smaller lineup. STAT will be the 5 and Ronnie or whoever is the "5" on the bench will only come in to add size.

If MDA were about non 3 point shooting 4's, David Lee would on the team today.

Before we even get there, how do we hold onto Will? Is that even a possibility? I would think with the season he's having he might get like 8 or so million from some team and we cant really afford that AND Melo. Even the Qualifying offer is only 1 year, right? I dont fully understand it. ut then even if we keep Chandler another year Gallo's contract will be up the next. And then he's gonna want possibly a similar contract(maybe a little less given his stats are lower)Is it even possible to hold onto our core guys and get Melo?
