The Grizzlies are making center Hasheem Thabeet available, reports David Aldridge of NBA.com.

Thabeet was the second overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft.

Memphis believes they already have their center of the future in Marc Gasol and they may be willing to cut their losses with Thabeet, who has been a disappointment.

Hey Martin correct that th to to! My error.

I nicknamed him Thabum while he was still at UCONN.

The guy has lead hands and moves like he is walking on stilts. No Thanx.

I think Atlanta, Boston, or Miami would be the ideal landing spots for him.

Yes! No hope! Yes!
His game is like Timo's but not nearly as good. And Timo has more upside. Keep Timo.

Briggs...I thought you LOVED Thabeet. He was all you could talk about during that draft. Outside of Bynum I thought that was your favorite big man of all time...what gives on the sudden reversal???

Briggs has done the same for other players past and present. Another example is a guy he always puts in trade scenarios (AR) who he wanted for 2 years.

Thabeet sucks bad and I never wanted him. Mozgov is better than Thabeet right now.

I love all Uconn guys. I had Stephan Curry Tyreke Evans and Demar Derozn in that draft my friend.

Thabeet is 2 years away from being 3 years away from being a basketball player. Dude is terrible. I would trade Roger Mason or Rautins for Thabeet, just because we need another big body, but that is it. Now a Mayo/Thabeet for Douglas/Walker would be a move I would consider.

I could go for a sack of potato chips........... Thought we wanted Mayo, not another Big to sit on the bench.

They're open to trading him means they're probably not going to pick up his option in 2012/13 and want to clear his salary off the books for next year.

Mind you, he's making $5m next year- I really find it hard to imagine any team picking him.

Unless,

depending on what the grizz wanted for him id be open to trading for him. thabeet is never going to be an offensive player in this league but he will be a very good defensive player and rebounder. he still needs to toughen up a bit - whenever i think of thabeet the first image that comes to my head is the 6'6 dejuan blair taking him down with one arm over his back in a uconn/pitt game 2 years ago.

Seriously...are you now saying that you never wanted us to draft Thabeet??? I dont know how to really use the UK search function but I dont think i'm wrong about this....is there someone more technically skilled than I that can settle this matter?

P.S. - I think this is clearly a situation, where the phrase "Man Up" applies.

i think Thabeet was on his top 5 list #245 leading up to the draft... or it could have been #246.

"Open to trading because Gasol is their center of the future" ---uh no....it should read "open to trading Thabeet because Memphis would like to forget that this draft pick ever happened"

Thabeet is awful. Oakley could do more right now and he's 50.

The Grizzlies are open to dealing Thabeet. Can we use and train him to be in our future? What would we give up?
