Story about Donald Sterling heckling some players on HIS team.

You know, the guy is an ******* for sure but its about time an owner says it like it is in front of the world to notice.

Pay a guy tens of millions and he don'w show up in shape?

Shout it out: Sterling heckles Davis

By Marc J. Spears, Yahoo! Sports

Return to Original ShareretweetEmailPrintLOS ANGELES – It’s not uncommon to hear Los Angeles Clippers fans heckle Baron Davis(notes). Of late, however, the jeers directed at the team’s struggling point guard are coming from a far more surprising source: The man paying Davis, Clippers owner Donald Sterling.

Sterling has expressed his displeasure about Davis’ play by taunting him from his courtside seat at Clippers’ home games, several sources told Yahoo! Sports. Among Sterling’s verbal barbs:

– “Why are you in the game?”

Clippers owner Donald Sterling has told Baron Davis, "You're out of shape."

– “Why did you take that shot?”

– “You’re out of shape!”

While Sterling has also taunted other Clippers players since the middle of last season, none have received it worse than Davis, the sources said. Davis has missed 14 of the team’s 25 games this season and is averaging 7.4 points while making a team-high $13 million. Including this season, Davis has three years and nearly $42 million left on his contract.

“There’s nothing I can say,” Davis said of Sterling’s taunts. “I have no comment on that. You just get to this point where it’s a fight every day. It’s a fight. You’re fighting unnecessary battles. I’m fighting unnecessary battles.

“It’s frustrating because I know and my teammates know I’m capable of getting it done, even dudes on the other team. It’s frustrating.”

Sterling had little comment when asked about his behavior.

“When they make shots, it’s great,” Sterling said during halftime of the Clippers’ loss to the Orlando Magic on Sunday. “When they don’t, we’re all disappointed.”

When asked for more explanation, Sterling shrugged and politely ended the questioning.

Sources said Sterling is upset with Davis for not living up to the five-year, $65 million contract he signed with the Clippers in the summer of 2008. Clippers center Chris Kaman(notes) and former Clippers Bobby Brown(notes) and Mardy Collins(notes) have also been berated by Sterling during games, a source said. The players typically heard Sterling during free throws or when they were within earshot during a stoppage in play.

While taunting players during games is somewhat new for Sterling, the owner has previously criticized his team. Two seasons ago, he made a rare visit to the locker room and launched into a tirade, calling former Clippers forward Al Thornton(notes) selfish. Sterling also said during the much-publicized incident that he was willing to trade every player on the team.

Sterling “started getting a lot more vocal during the second half of last season,” one team source said. “He never had done that before at games. Baron’s his pet project. He absolutely hates Baron. He wants to get his money back.”

When asked his thoughts on Davis, Sterling said: “What can I say? I wish the best for all my players.”

While Davis wouldn’t confirm Sterling’s criticism, those close to the point guard said it’s taking a strong toll on him. One member of the organization who wished to remain anonymous expressed disappointment in Sterling’s lack of support for Davis and the players.

“The owner of the team has to be the main supporter of the team and the staff,” the source said. “And when the owner of the team isn’t supporting the players, it doesn’t give you confidence to play the way you want to. This guy is supposed to be on your side, not against you. You want someone who can support what you’re doing and be on your side.”

That's awesome!

Look at Baron, the deluded, smug piece of S-word, "they know I'm capable of gettin' it done" SO WHY AREN'T YOU?? 7.4 points per game, what the fork is he doing out there anyway? Wow.

Baron Davis is an embarrassment not only to the L, to ballers all over the world, but also TO HUMANITY. MARBURY 2.0

And he wonders why LeBron, Bosh and Carmelo aren't banging down the door to play for the Clippers.

So you fck up by giving the guy a contract and now you heckle him on the court. Smart, very smart. I'm guessing the owner forgot that these terrible players were his choices in the first place. This is too funny.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

They really need more NFL-ish contracts where the money isn't all guaranteed. There are really too many Curry, Steph, AI, Davis, AgentZero stories and not enough Tim Duncan stories in the NBA.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Its all on the owners. Everyone knew Curry's contract was a joke. Your own team will pay you to retire and the Knicks give him 5 years. Basketball is one of the few sports where huge contracts are awarded to players base only on potetial.

The NFL is unique because its impossible to keep players healthy, so you cant guarentee those deals.

The new CBA will kill the age limit, extend rookie contracts a year longer with more options, cut the MLE to 2/3 of its current deal and drop contract lengths to 4/5 years from 5/6.

Hard caps are crap and softcaps arent much better. If Dolan wants to have a $150mm payroll he should be able to. Enforce a luxury tax like in baseball that awards owners who spend responsibly.

wow, talk about unprofessional. The owner has every opportunity to speak and let his players know how he feels in person (like a man should do). Heckling them during game play shows what a douche he is.

His players should be heckling him for being an even worse owner than DOLAN. For being a farm team and joke of the rest of the league.

Can't wait for next year when Blake becomes a free agent and leaves them high and dry

the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

I don't like that.. an owner heckling his player? no wonder no one wants to go to that toxic organization. I am sure blake griffin and eric gordon are looking at this and saying.. Get me the hell out of here.. and soon..

I am sorry, but you , as an owner, handle these things behind doors.. what a douchebag move by sterling..

But no one is looking at what Baron is doing and calling him a douche? Baron got his cash money and now he is refusing to work for it. He's a lazy, overpaid, prima donna player who never did anything for the Clips since signing that contract.

If I were Sterling, I'd do much worse than heckle him.

I'm hoping Baron loses his 'cool' and does something crazy so that they can get out of that contract.

I agree that Baron is an out-of-shape loser that only seems to care to play during contract years. But there is NO excuse for an owner to be on the sideline heckling his own players. That is just crazy. It undermines the coach, it looks bad to the other players, and you have pretty much guaranteed that Baron Davis is going to tune you out. It is unprofessional and illogical.

Right, half the league is over paid, and baron sits up there in the top 5. He sounds like randy moss " i play hard when i wanna" .

the heckling during games is a little over the top, but i can see why, those #s are down right disgraceful, and he should be embaraased, he should goto Sterling and give back some of the doe and say how sorry he was for stealing from him..

STERLING should go to stern and do the same thing. The guy has intentionally sucked for years which, has allowed him every year to benefit from the leagues revenue sharing.

The CBA as currently constructed cripples teams for making mistakes; to the tunes of millions of dollars.

This is where fining a player or witholding pay for showing up out of shape and unfit to play should be allowed. Instead, the union would fight, have it overturned and everyone would waste time.

Then again, nobody derserves this fat chucker with bad wheels more then Sterling... Karma's a b*tch!

it is when written into the contract. Riles has repeatedly suspended and fined players (antoin walker for one) for showing up out of shape. He set firm standards for the amount of body fat they could come into camp with. Too bad we didn't do the same for McCurry
