*Disclaimer* - I am SUPER excited about the Knicks. Last time I posted was the the first Minesotta game thread when I thought this was a bonafide disaster. To be fair, at the time, it looked like that's where this season was headed. But wow...since the West Coast trip they've been on fire.
That being said, we'll have the best understanding on where our team is after the Boston game. It's no fluke to win 12/13 and have 2 winning streaks over 5 games. But I think anyone who's been watching games knows that while the Denver game was a great win, the Knicks should definitely be sticking with a team like that. Whether or not we need Melo, what teams can we compare ourselves to, how much of this success is coaching, etc. will be evident when we see how our boys compete with the best in the business.
If someone told me right this second there is a reasonable offer on the table for Melo you'd have to go for it. But if we beat Boston and/or Miami while being competitive in both games we have to seriously look at the possibility of building around what we have. I'm excited, but we can't consider ourselves elite until we play an elite team. Denver is very good but not Elite. Boston, Miami (yes, they're elite), LAL, SAS, Dallas, Orlando. We have to measure ourselves against those teams, because it's clear we're as good, if not better than everyone else.
