Memphis Grizzles guard O.J. Mayo could be on the move soon, and a source close to his family thinks he could end up with the Knicks. "They're gonna move him next week and I think he's gonna end up in New York," the source said.

What the heck do "sources close to the family" know? I played his cousin once on Socom for ps3, he was terrible at Socom. So I doubt them.

Thats just a bit thats taken from the article that was posted on here yesterday. The same article goes on to contradict itself, citing Knick sources who are doubtful it will happen. My thoughts are that Mayo will probably be moved for a much lower price than people seem to think, but the only way he ends up on the Knicks is if we move TD for him, and he becomes our sixth man. I remember Donnie was very high on him at the draft, so I could see him being interested, however getting him would restrict our cap, and I don't see him doing it unless he abandons the Melo plan, and goes all in with the team we've got with maybe an upgrade at the C/PF spot at the same time.

actually...if it's douglas, randolph and walker...it's pretty much a wash in terms of cap

seems to me that Memphis wants to move him to save $$$ but I could be wrong. They just signed Gay and Conley to massive deals and have Gasol and Zach coming up too.

Xavier Henry has stepped up and is low cost over the next 5 years.

What do the Grizz need besides cap relief in return for Mayo? And what would the Knicks offer?

That would be the offer that makes the most sense.

I like Mayo a lot, but how does he fit here? I think the Knicks need Douglas' skills off the bench more than Mayo's. Unless Mayo became a lockdown defender and I didn't know about it...

Your 1st post is some unsubstantiated rumor from some crap website? Not a good look, man.

You're making Bip look like a genius in comparison.

maybe it's a precursor to a deal w/DEN for Melo where we're giving up Gallo & Fields? who knows... u have to like that tradeoff though, we'd only be losing 1 net starter if both those trades went down, & would be gaining a star player.

OJ Mayo would be our most natural SG in the rotation - and be up there with just about anyone on the Knicks as a pure shooter.

I have literally never seen Mayo play a game... is he a pure shooter?

he's got a great shot... I think his play is better than his numbers. Very tough competitor. If Memphis would take pieces, like AR/Douglas/Walker cash that would be a coup. He would be a core 30 mpg bench guy.

I just have a feeling the cost for Mayo is going to be higher than the benefit of what he would bring to the Knicks. If you can bring him in for something reasonable, fine but I wouldn't sell the farm for him. He may be good as a 6th man but he's always struck me as a player who gets his points, gets his shots but doesn't really do a lot to positively impact the outcome of a game and help his team win.
Surely you can't be serious. I am serious. And don't call me Shirley.

to get to the next level Knicks need both types of players: Bench scoring punch and depth at the bigs positions.

With the addition of Mayo --- we could basically tell the Nuggets to blank off - we're waiting for free agengy next summer.

Mayo would give us some much needed scoring and defense OFF THE BENCH this season and potentially be a bargaing chip next summer if we don't want him or can't afford him.

We have a lack of depth at the 2 spot behind Landry -- Mayo could fill that void and Landry could also slide to the 3 if we play the 2 together.

A Randolph and Buike trade for OJ is perfectly fine with me.

Felton
Fields
Gallo
Chandler
Amare

Douglas
Mayo
Williams

Word is that they want Chandler. Chandler is putting up much better numbers - every year, while Mayo is doing the opposite. The only way I would see us doing that trade is because we are afraid of losing Chandler at the end of the year anyway, in order to sign Melo. It would be a calculated gamble...

edit - We would have to throw in filler as Mayo was a lotto pick and makes more.
