Top 10 in steals, assists and 29 in scoring. He deserves his own appreciation thread. Has almost done as much for the knx as Martin and Andrew. Deserves his own thread.

he's been great. You see this often, where a guy is 25-28 years old, goes to a different team, different system and the guy totally blossums. Ben Wallace, Steve Nash and David West come to mind. I could probably come up with another dozen but you get the point (and my hope) that Felton at 26 is free being freed up and he's going to the next level.

He's at an all star level, and the GREAT thing is he's playing within himself. Its not like he's shooting 60% and you expect him to settle down to earth. He's really just doing all the things he's always done. He's just doing them more and doing them better.

Plus he is a chippy tough dude and there is nothing not to love about how he plays the game

Have to admit I was concerned about Felton but I did say he should get until the all star break to show what he can do. He stopped playing helter skelter for the most part and started acting and playing like a floor general. Love to see a Knicks PG with some real swagger who can back it up.

"The Reason"

"In Felton’s case, so far we have seen him play like a New York point guard. He has all the intangibles that fans have been waiting for, like his attitude that he will play regardless if he is sick with a stomach virus or dealing with back problems. Then he has games where he wows us with things like a crossover and dribble to split through defenders, spin moves, and driving left or right on some of the top players. He passes to hook his teammates up and he has that tear drop floater that Mark Jackson made a career out of.

Felton's good play is a result of hardwork. Not only has he put in the hard work in the gym and on the court but he looks forward for the challenges every night. Before the season started some fans doubted New York would be the right fit for Felton. Some fans even questioned if Felton would be much of an upgrade over Chris Duhon.

Now that we're moving through the season Raymond Felton has played like, not just good point guard, but like an elite point guard. This season he is averaging a career high of 18 points, 8 assists, and 2 steals a game.

Over the last few weeks we have seen Felton’s grittiness playing under pressure by either scoring in the clutch, or making the right pass to his teammates. Felton’s leadership and swagger is what helped catapult the Knicks to the status of being a legitimate playoff contender.

Felton many not be from New York but he sure does look like it."

The stats are great. But more important; he is a winner. Not the best pg in the league. Got some weaknesses, but I love his heart and effort and ability to make big plays when they're needed. Plus we get all this at a very reasonable salary. It's great to see the production we're getting out of guys who aren't overpaid. We're down to Eddy as our sole bad salary, and that will go away soon enough.

longs ways to go, but if he plays at this level for the next 2 years he's earned a 5 year $60mm extension at 28 years old.

what bernard said

Forget the salary nonsense. Thanks to his leadership, Ray Felton will direct the new Knicks into the most pivotal a week of basketball the franchise has faced in a decade.

The media buzzing with excitement and anticipation.

Are these guys for real?

Just to be clear, I don't care about the salaries because I resent the $ these guys make. I've always felt that athletes deserve whatever they can get because I'd rather they have the $ than the Dolan's of the world.

I just care because of the cap situation and the flexibility that all the good contracts bring to us. I'm not looking to make any trades now. I think the next 25 games will tell us what, if anything, we should be doing at the deadline. But it's a big, welcome change to know that we'll have the ability to make moves without taking on crappy contracts when/if the time is right.

One thing I like apart from the stats and his improvement on Pick n Roll is the way he has come up big at the end of clutch games which we have seen from STAT, Gallo and Raymond (even if they bounce around a lot like the last game.
cheers
