No one knows cuz wasn't here posting but I never liked the Amare trade, I saw him as a relatively unskilled big man too dependant on a pg to score.
Not enough of a presence on defense.

He has enough handle to create his own shoot within 12 ft odf the basket. He's got a nice mid range shot. He's a beast within 8 feet of the basket.
He is MUCH better than I thought.

The team isn't built the way I'd like it, but its a winning team, and a team which can improve. I'm happy to see my knocks winning again. I don't care how it comes.

Bottom line is, 1 trip to the garden and I've become a knick fan(atic) again.

Thanx Amare. Did anyone else feel this way?

BTW, I'm still having a problem billing him as a superstar, although its hard to deny he is playing at that level.

hey killa.

i agree. i think the best bet would be to have amare as a second option to a more dominant kobe/lebron/melo/durrant type scorer. he's still not someone you give the ball to as a go-to guy to create. you want someone else diverting the defense and then finding amare for the easy conversion (although amare is a big target that makes a lot of stuff look easy).

he is forcing his will on the game, but it's not fair to expect him to stay around 30ppg.

The system is designed to create space for Felton/Amar'e to operate. If a team collapses you should have enough shooting to make teams pay and that's what we've done here. This is the roster DW and Mike wanted to have in order to make it near impossible to stop the PnR offense. Just like Nash/Amare didn't really need another closer, this team is setup the same way only I think Amar'e is even better now. We rely on him even more than PHX did. Think about it, it makes sense. He's a high % scorer and he draws fouls and converts. So long as Felton, Gallo, Chan, TD and Shane keep hitting from 3, this system can work against anyone.

This is what I hope happens. I hope Amar'e is the new Mark Messier!!!

I was never a great fan of Amare, but he I've been impressed by the fact that he has taken on the challenge of being a team leader and actually delivered.

He still does some strange things when he has the ball, and some of his shots are less than artistic, but he is getting the job done in a way we haven't seen around here for a good amount of time.

Both he and Felton have really impressed me so far, and I had some doubts about both of them before we got them.

You just get the sense that they want to win. Felton's outburst in the 2nd quarter was pretty exciting to see, as was Amare's heroics in the second half.

Good time to be a Knicks' fan...hope the ride continues.

It's to the point where you are absolutely shocked if he gets the ball in an iso situation close to the basket and doesn't score.

I will admit too that I was not much of a fan of the Amare signing. He was clearly the fall back option, but at this point, I think he has made the most impact than any FA could have made to this team, and that includes Lebron (although Lebron probably would have attracted another FA (like Boozer) so the total package might have been better). Amare has really stepped up his game and his leadership. This is all this team has really lacked. We had guys that could score, but weren't leaders and we had guys trying to lead but who could not score. Now we have guys that can score in the 4th and lead, which is leading to all the winning.

I think they did. A lot of times in the playoffs when teams were clamping down on the d, doubling and fronting Amare, you'd see Nash dribbling round and round, getting a little lost, and uncharacteristically turning the ball over. And that's Nash, a guy with impeccable judgment, ability and shooting percentage.

Consider the cases of Garnett and Gasol. Both beasted and carried inferior teams to the playoffs, but couldn't win big till they played second fiddle.

I'm not trying to take anything away from Amare, and I'm more than thrilled with what he's given us so far. And I'll be more than thrilled to make the playoffs this year, even if it's a one & done. But if we want to be greedy and win it all, I think we need a "big 3". Right now Felton and Amare are our big 2, and I'm not convinced Wilson or Gallo will emerge as go-to closer caliber players. If you want to win big you need one, and I don't see Felton or Amare as that guy either.

Patrick never won for similar reasons. Yes, let us enjoy Amare, but lets not fail him like we did Patrick either.

I didn't know Amare had this type of leadership ability but his skills were pretty obvious. But if he brought those skills without the leadership we would not be doing as well as we are. That 3-8 start would have turned into 3-14 like it had in the past.
I just hope that people will like me

I actually didn't know he was THIS skilled. Yes, he plays best with a good PG, but I was worried that he wouldn't flourish as much without Nash. I also didn't realize how smart he plays, but it's real obvious. He picks his spots nicely and manipulates defenders.

Totally underestimated the dude, and I LOVED the signing. I wanted him over Bosh from day one.

Amare may not be a superstar, but he's the best player this team has had in quite some time. We forgot what a difference that can make.

It's too bad, because if Amare keeps playing this well, I may never be able to post again.

You don't have to just pick on the knicks. You could pick on allanfan.
