18 of these 25 games are against teams with winning records (and Portland is 10-11).
all these threads about what we need, how good are guys, etc will be pretty clear after this stretch. Knicks should win tonight (making them 14-9). I think we will do OK during this stretch. Hopefully that Hornets game in NO gave us a nice confidence boost. I'm gonna say we go 14-11. That would make us 28-20 and on pace to win 47 games.

How do you guys thing we do after this stretch? (12 @ home vs 13 on the road)

11-14 would put us at 24-24 and on pace for a 41 win season.

The eight seed looks like its going to be trash. We're probably not going to jump Miami, so really this season is a battle to stay in the #6 seed. Indy is the only likely threat to that. Here is their remaining schedule. Certainly not an easy one, so I feel OK about where we are as long as we can hover around .500 during our next 25.

Wed 08 @ Milwaukee
Fri 10 vs Charlotte
Sat 11 @ Atlanta
Mon 13 @ Chicago
Wed 15 vs LA Lakers
Fri 17 vs Cleveland
Sun 19 @ Boston
Mon 20 vs New Orleans
Sun 26 vs Memphis
Tue 28 vs Boston
Wed 29 @ Washington
Fri 31 vs Washington
Sun 02 @ New York
Fri 07 vs San Antonio
Sat 08 @ Atlanta
Tue 11 @ Philadelphia
Wed 12 vs Dallas
Fri 14 vs Chicago
Mon 17 @ LA Clippers
Wed 19 @ Golden State
Sat 22 @ Portland
Sun 23 @ Denver
Wed 26 vs Orlando
Fri 28 vs New Jersey
Sat 29 @ Chicago

i count maybe 10 wins. wizards 2x, cavs, suns 2x, kings, rockets, hawks, detroit. games against the pacers and blazers are toss ups so count 1 of those as wins. bulls, nuggets, celtics, heat, okc, spurs, lakers, mavs and magic are just super tough and i'm not sure if we can beat them. imo we're about as likely to win against them as lose to the first group.

i think we can still manage to be over .500 in that scenario. a disaster scenario would be a very long losing streak starting with the nuggets game which i could EASILY see happen. optimistically 14 wins is also possible and i think that would catapult us into legit second tier category with the hawks and possibly bulls in the east.

14-9 after tonight, then you have those 25...I will say they go 18-7, making them 32-16 at the end of the stretch. Guaranteed.
WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

I think your overestimating those teams. Hell... Toronto has beaten OKC, the Magic and the Celtics. There is no reason is the Knicks are playing hard everynight they should go 10-15. Whether they go small or add a center to the SL they cause matchup problems every night.

The team I am most interested in is the Bulls, because Boozer/Knoa is the anti MDA Chandler/Amare. Dying to see how that matchup playes out. I could see Chandler/Amare destroying them with speed and space. I could equally see us getting pushed off the block and abused in the paint. Very fascinating.

Knicks can't overlook tonight's game. They must win tonight. They are supposed to win tonight.

If we come out of this stretch still at .500, I will be satisfied. Our schedule eases down in March/April, and .500 is all it takes to get to the playoffs.

If the team surprises and improves their record over this stretch, much the same way Phoenix surprised their first year with Nash, or the Sonics when they won 50+ games with just Ray Allen and Rashard, I will have a giant boner.

I too think 11-14 is more realistic than 14-11. We can't get to 14 W unless we beat at least a couple of the elite teams.

These teams because of their size and discipline have to be the toughest matchups for the Knicks as currently constructed. During this stretch, if we beat one of these teams... then we may have arrived as a team that will have a real impact on the NBA all the way into the Spring.

Celtics
Magic
Spurs
Blazers
Jazz
Mavs

That 4 game road trip stuck in there is absolutely brutal. And we start that trip after facing the Spurs at hme. Thats not a good stretch for the Knicks.

yeah i like to stay conservative. i still think we have numerous issues, at least more issues than some of the nba's elite.

like i said, i don't think we'll lose to every single one of the tough games, but i also don't think we'll beat every single one of the easier games.

you have to remember we lost to minny, houston without brooks or yao, philly without iguodala. you can say we're a different team now but there is still no excuse losing to those teams. even during our little streak we needed double OT to beat Detroit.

I can see beating maybe the bulls, mavs, and even the magic but we could conceivably lose to the hawks, suns or cavs in that same light. anything can happen in a given night.

i think 10-11 wins is a reasonable expectation.

wow, too much cool-aid drinking. I love me some Knicks play so far this year (and especially over the past 12 games), but they are not going anywhere near .500 over the next 25 games.

and I'll place my GamePicker record on that.

i could easily see them winning 12 to 13 of the games listed. if they keep playing the way they are, they can even steal a few more. bottom line, to be elite, the team needs to win the games they are supposed to, steal a few good ones on the road and make it extremely hard for teams to beat you at home.

with the way the team is looking now (i.e.: 4-5 at home, 9-4 on the road)), home wins are the biggest opportunity for improvement - 13 games at home over the aforementioned 25 game stretch. take 7 or 8 of them and then you're looking good, real good.

It seems to me that you guys don't fully understand what has happened with this team, the transformation that has taken place. It might be that after all these years you just don't want to believe your eyes. But my eyes are clear. What we have on our hands is an elite squad. A group of winners that is going for the gold this year. When Coach Mike's teams come up, they come up in a big way. Phoenix came out of nowhere to win 62 games, the Knicks are coming out of nowhere this year to win 54. Watch. Feel. Enjoy. 32-16 at the end of the stretch, I would put my life on that.

Whats tough is also that some teams below .500 will rise. We did it!

ANd you get a sub .500 who even temparary gets it together. Like when under larry we won 5 in a row. Like when Milwaukee tore us a part, then they did Indy before bogut got hurt and they are playing bad ball again.

Rondo is hurting as is shaq. We can take boston. We will be some good teams and lose to some we "SHOULD" beat.

I contend we are a .500 team but this is our season coming up. The lite schedule was great for us to find our stride and identity. Now we have to maintain it.

Adversity and how we deal with it will also test our team. Loses, injury and trade rumors will persist. We won't pass all the test's. Its not hating, its just keeping it real!

you know what's brutal? Dec 12th to Jan 12th we are only playing teams in playoff contention, including ALL of the contenders. Yes i don't think the cavs game will be easy but they are the easiest opponents in that stretch.

after tonight... the next 25 games (how much love do you have for your Knicks???)
