to make a trade taking on salary for player(s) that would give us as good as shot to win it all this year as anyone else or are you hell bent on free agency in lieu of the possibility of making this a championship caliber team now.

I doubt we can win it all even with Melo unless he comes to us through Free agency and does NOT disrupt our chemistry. So I would like to hold on to cap space.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

And no, Carl Landry or Jason Thompson aren't the keys to that championship.

This isn't a real scenario. Carmelo isn't the only option, but if you're suggesting forfeiting future for a one year loan, I'll pass.

depends on the players... if there's a star player out there we can get our hands on w/our assets, i'm all for it... but no, i don't give up a shot at Carmelo to trade for Jason Thompson.

Ahh...Briggs' question was about making such a trade if we could have a shot to win it all this year, but such a trade would have implications for next year, too.

Of course you would have to find the right player, but if do you find that player(s) and have a shot this year, wouldn't you have that same shot with your new player(s) next year, when guys like Fields, Gallo, Mosguv, Williams, etc. (assuming that they all remain on the team after this hypothetical trade) have another year under their belt, and Felton has had a year under MDA to further fine tune his game?
