30.4 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, .89 steals, 2.22 blocks, .570 FG%, 10 FTA per game

Record: 7-2

This is one thing Marbury and Crawford and Lee and all the rest never understood. You can say all the right things to the press. But it doesn't mean anythign unless you yourself up your game. Amare is earnign his money

On a related note, here are Felton's numbers since the call out
21.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 2.56 steals, 49% FG, 88% FT's

agree w/u 100%... this guy is leading by example on the court... not just empty words & rah rah BS... last night i saw him hustling after loose balls, blocking shots in people's faces, getting steals & jump balls off his effort & resourcefulness... he really ignited the Knicks' defense in the 2nd half... so did Ray Felton in the backcourt... our 2 captains are leading the way... how long has it been since we've been able to say that?

when dantoni took amare out late in the game when we had this one in the bag.. the standing ovation gave me chills... really, when was the last time we saw this at msg?

i felt the same way last night... it was a good feeling... but i'm trying not to get too excited until we see this team sustain its success over a longer stretch... right now we're in a very favorable stretch to the season where our competition is mainly sub .500 teams... hopefully we can use this stretch to build up our confidence & get ready for the better teams to come our way... NOH will be a great measuring stick in the next game to see where exactly this team is at... if we can beat that team in their house, i will start to seriously rethink my projections for this team this season... but for the past 6 or 7 games, i have to say i am really happy with how this team has responded to that horrid stretch of losses... they showed they have some heart & not willing to settle for the constant losing anymore... leadership goes a long way when it's backed up with actions, me & you have been railing about that for years.

The last 5 minutes of the 4th was something to behold. Granted, no one was stopping Lopez, but that trademark Knick doom-and-gloom, here-comes-the-collapse never occurred.
Mr.Bluesowner should start getting cartilage donors lined up for Stat.

Great feeling, to have control of a game. Had to be lousy being a Nets fan last night. Or at almost any time, come to think of it.

Yeah, beats the "locker room guys" who did squat outside the locker room. Amare is also leading by communicating with his teammates, not just putting points on the board. Its like we have an actual adult running things for a change.

You know what else he didn't do? He didn't pout, pack up his stuff and go home in the middle of a road trip when he didn't get his way like one of the guys on your list did.

just the other day I was thinking about enjoying basketball again as I see a real future with this young team and players. Nothing, NOTHING beats the feeling of a playoff game at the garden, when the Knicks make that last defensive stop, the PG walks the ball up and opposition doesnt foul because they know its over, then everyone stands and cheers. Goosebumps. Thats what made me a fan of this game.

This is a good thread.

I said this team would win 45 games and this is why. I saw alot of Amare last year. Suns were best 2nd half team in the NBA and while Nash was (always good) Amare was dominant.

Felton and Amare have 100% reversed the losing culture here.

Bip, your prob one of the few people that agreed with my defense of Don Chaney. Coaching was never the problem. When MDA gets outcoached in the playoffs we can look elsewhere, but everything starts with the players.

We have two true leaders in their prime, and a great young supporting cast I very much want to keep together in Fields, Gallo, Chandler, Douglas, Mos, AR, even Turiaf and possibly Azu if he's healthy

And yes, considering what he had, Chaney did Yeoman's work. He got that team to work every night and did a fine job. Was he a great coach? No. Did he deserve to be ridiculed and run out of town? Absolutely not.

Amare is the man, but lets not forget this team is rallying around him. There is still a long way to go this season but we obviously have reason to be optimistic. We have been playing some pretty bad teams though, I want to see how we do against the real talent - that will tell us how far we are from contenting.

Agreed, but at teh same time don't forget, before the season we were considered to be in the same class as the Toronto's and Charlotte's and Minnesota's of the world. We are clearly putting that talk to rest.

We didn't know it before he came, but when Amar'e signed and made the NY is back statement, it was a sign of just what was in his heart. He had reached a new level in his development and was ready to be a leader and unlike a lot of guys wasn't afraid of the challenge. He really impressed me with his words and actions before the season thru to now. We've been waiting for a leader like this for a decade and it's a great feeling. I hope for nothing but the best for him the rest of his career here. LJ was another guy that surprised me with his leadership when he got here. I always like him but thought he was more of a clown than a serious leader. Then he got here and it was clear he was no clown. LJ stepped up and I only wish his back hadn't gone on him.
