I don't consider Randolph a waste of a roster spot.
He obviously needs to develop his game a lil more, but he is very physically gifted & young.

Most teams have a project or 2 on their rosters. Randolph earns very lil and has huge upside.
I am all for keeping him for another year before losing patience with him.

All the other guys on your list besides Timofey I agree with.

The worst offseason signing for the Knicks has got to be Mason Jr.
I would rather play 4 on 5 than waste a body with him on the court.

His defense is horrible... and the only thing he was suppose to be OK at "Offense".. he completely stinks at.
Anyone know what Mason's contract status is?
For the love of all that is holy I hope it is non-guaranteed after this season.

Briggs, you used to be crazy about getting Randolph. Why do you consider him useless now?

1. Curry is a wasted spot
2. Rautins may be. I haven't seen how he is developing in practices to make a judgement
3. Williams, same as Rautins.
4. Randolph -For years you've been complaining about us not getting good young talent and developing it. Now we have it and you are saying that are/may be wasted roster spots? NOt everyone can play major minutes. If you are going to have guys on the bench may as well be guys that have potential to develop
5.) Mason Jr is a wasted spot. I'm assuming he will be first cut(If not Curry) if something else presents itself
6.) Azubuike-Only if too injured to play all season. Otherwise, very confused as to why he is on the list
7.) Mozgov-All the flaws aside I think all of you guys are underestimating his defensive impact. Would I prefer a producer in this spot right now and have Mozgov developing on the bench like Randolph. Sure. But if not, I'm okay with 10-12 minutes for whoever is playing the best out of Mozgov and Randolph. We are not a player away from winning a title, so I'm perfectly fine with giving these guys some minutes to develop their games.

The only wasted spots to me right now are Mason and Curry.

I just hope that people will like me

All of those spare parts together don't add up to Jason Thompson. In your mind I think they do and that's where we differ...JT is a nice young big with legit height & girth along with some room to grow into more than he is right now...possibly. For that combination of ready-to-go talent + potential for more you're gonna have to pay..Face facts -- they're gonna want a decent haul for him despite not playing him a ton so far this year. I wouldn't be surprised if they had zero interest in Randolph..I mean why would they? The guy never achieved anything substantial in GS and now Mike's buried him here in NY. And Timo too -- what are they doing with Timo? They prob. believe they already have better forwards and centers on their own roster already. I know that's how I would feel if I were a Sac. King fan. So where's that leave us with this hypothetical?? Fields, our starting SG? Chandler, our primary scorer off the bench??? Unfortunately I'd have to pass..Hey, it's a good idea -- JT would be good here -- if you can steal him, you steal him. Definitely worth an inquiry...I just don't see them giving him away for what you're prepared to give them Briggs.

1 Curry - potentially valuable expiring
2 Rautins - 2nd rounder, possibly decent 4th G
3 Williams - 15th man
4 Randolph - he's certainly worth trying to develop
5 Mason JR - horrible
6 Azubukie - worth seeing if he can provide Starks effect (explosive on O, fine defender)
cheers

if ny had a legit dleague team instead of this sharing thingy, randolph could be sent to dleague for the purpose of development. but i doubt d'antoni trusts or even knows how to use this shared dleague team properly for development. dleague is a good idea with a bad name and bad structure. big market teams like the knicks need their own minor league 100% influenced by the president and head coach of the major team.

It's a long season. Some of these guys might be wastes (Mason, Curry, Rautins) but the others are getting ready, bidding their time. Williams played 5-6 minutes and looked decent. Randolph is still a work in progress, as is 'Bukie. We're going to reap the benefits for our patience. Walker looks like a bust, until that 3 pointer falls.

is this a joke?

having randolph and mozgov on the bench is "useless"? 21 and 24 yrs old, both are 7 footers and signed to reasonable deals. LOL briggs u crack me up man,,,,pass whatever it is ur smoking

also azabuike is a career 40% 3pt shooter. when he's back he's not a waste.

who can we fill these spots with AND YOU CANT SAY EARL BARRON!!! LOL

Useful

1. Curry - expiring, and practiced today
2. Rautins - second round picks ride the pine, remember?
3. Williams - 6'9, fluid and learning how to be a better citizen
4. Randolph - 6'11 and practiced today
5. Mason Jr - no comment, at least he practiced today
6. Azubuike- practiced today and drilled a long three
7. Mozgov - legit seven footers who can move like him are rare, and he practiced today
8. Walker - an important player for spot duty, he practiced today

The other seven guys rested

once a knick always a knick

also this is really d'antoni's fault for not getting production out of the end of the bench. randolph should be seeing more minutes.

We need to develop Anthony Randolph. That is almost as important as making the playoffs in my mind. WE NEED TO DEVELOP ANTHONY RANDOLPH.

We need to allow the coaching staff to work with AR and get his mind right. There's no reason to force him in for longer than his play warrants. I'm positive that the Knicks want to get AR playing big minutes. Just throwing him out there tho is detrimental. With Turiaf hurting, this is an opportunity for AR to show that he should be playing, so we'll see.

I think his mind is pretty good right now. Last time I heard him talk he said things like winning is the most important, better guys are playing ahead of him right now and he just needs to keep working hard and getting better, etc.

I don't see where the love affair with marginal talent we just have to trade for. Usually there are two guys that don't play on every team in most cases three. So Mason and Williams I can understand.

But we have two young kids that need time to develop. It doesn't happen right away for guys. AR needs to be rebuilt and the coaching staff is doing that. He didn't just lose his talent. He needs to get fully healthy and have a defined role and learn how to play.

Moz is young and foreign to this country and this league. Once they teach him where to be and how to get his shot off he will be fine. It takes a while to learn how to play all over again.

You don't trade low. So there is no reason to panick on either of these kids.

Buke and Curry are wildcards at this point and if we can get them back onto the court they are much better than anything that is out there. Who are we going to sign with our open roster spots? Frank Williams? Raef Alston?

We are getting wins and learning how to play. We aren't winning a championship so I would like to stick with the group and see what we have.

None of that is worth diddly to the Kings in a JT deal...Add Mozgov to the list. They have at least 3 centers on that roster that are far and away superior to Timo..TD as well..What do they do with him? Evans is their lead do-it-all guard, Udrih is a solid backup that can play both backcourt spots, they have Pooh Jeter as their third PG and guys like versatile Francisco Garcia, Antonie Wright and Luther Head around for SG depth. I just don't see a trade match for Thompson here.
