Winning w/o the P&R is fools gold. They have to find a way to implement. If Felton can't deliver it, maybe have Gallow, Chandler or Fields be the ball handler and Felton a recipient. One way or another they have to find a reliable midrange game.

I was thinking that while watching the game. The pick and pop with amare or mozgov would be nice. Also if gallo could develop a midrange game. He attempted a few midrange shots but it looked forced and uncomfortable.

This team doesn't have many good mid range shooters, especially from smaller positions. Felton is good. Douglas and Gallo are terrible. Fields seems to have good mid range touch. Walker doesn't shoot them enough. Only saw a couple last year from him. Amare isn't really that consistent. I dont get how Breen says that he's mastered it lol. Mosgov shoots good for a big man. Like I've said before though D'Antoni doesn't like mid range shots period. Man Mike D and Clyde would really get into it.

Clyde: He had ample time to stop and pop!
D'Antoni: There's only a 37% chance he would make it. Just shoot the 3!

Actually Amar'e is good but he's often caught trying to get to the basket and isn't really trying to pull up for a jumper. I think he's got the stroke and accuracy for it, but he has to look for it more often.

It's not true that Mike dislikes the midrange. The thing is that Clyde often says that the Midrange pull up jumper is a lost art in the NBA and it's true. Only a few guys actually do it consistently. That's more of the reason we don't see it. If we had players that were good at it, i'm positive that we'd see it used more.

I think Amare has been better this year.

Douglas had a better midrange game in college, so it's surprising to me that he hasn't had similar success here.

Gallo's shot in general has been disappointing, though I don't know how much of it has been injury related. He does not seem to have a midrange rhythm or stroke at this point in his career. To me it is a strange that he is showing an excellent arc on his foul shots, but is much flatter on his other shots. I wonder if he is using his legs enough when shooting from deep- my guess is that he is using too much upper body action and not getting enough from his legs, and this is the reason for a flatter, and less successful, shot this year.

I think you may be right, cuz I felt he hasn't been shooting with the same form. His midrange jumper is horrible. He also tends to do that step back when it's not necessary. He's near 7' and thinks he needs to fade away!?! I think he needs to really work on his midrange game and take a page from the book of Dirk. You don't need to be able to blow past your man, just know how to create space and it won't take much for him to get his shot off if his release is high like Dirk.

he just needs to stop fading away or shooting of the dribble. pick a spot, square up and shoot. simple case of trying to do/be to much.

What?? You're giving up on Gallo? Let's wait this one out i believe Mello is coming any way in July so let's not get too crazy about giving up on our guys. Even if we had Mello right now we would not be going to this finals this season.

Its strange, looks like they are playing NBA Live out there. Its either 3's or dunks/layups. Maybe the developers were on to something back in '98 lol.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Mike has said himself he doesn't like the midrange, at least for smaller positions anyway. He says it's a low percentage shot. The best shots are threes, freethrows, and layups/dunks according to him. He's said it right on his show multiple times.

Our best mid range shooter is Felton. He can shoot it off the dribble or spot up and shoots it effeciently. Will hasn't been making them off the dribble for a while now. Usually he's solid but he's hit a big cold streak.

Heh. That game was awesome.

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.
