More fluidity in the offense.
Amare no longer seems to feel that he has to do everything on his own. I like the midrange J he has been taking- he's very consistent with it, and it helps his driving game.
Turiaf has been a revelation, but has to stay healthy.
Douglas has to play the way he did earlier in the year.
Fields has to continue to improve and make adjustments as teams adjust to his game.
Chandler has to be consistent- he makes too many rookie mistakes, still. (forgot this)
But the keys for me are Felton and Gallo, who both stepped up their games big time during the road trip. If these two guys emerge and can continue to play some semblance of the ball they have been playing the past few games, this team can win the 45+ games I originally thought they could reach, but have since had doubts about.
I think Hahn wrote (bought Newsday today) that MDA has made some changes in how he uses Felton, indicating that he has adopted some aspects of the Triangle O. If anyone can explain this to me I'd appreciate it. What I'm seeing from Felton is a guy very secure in his jump shooting- the thing we all thought was a weakness. I'm still a bit annoyed at how many of his passes are tipped, but he's been a little better recently, and hopefully he will continue to improve in this aspect as he continues to find his comfort zone in the offense.
If Gallo had played like this earlier in the year we'd have 7 or 8 wins at this point. Whether it was his hand or the trade talk, he is an entirely different player now than the guy we saw at the beginning of the year. He's getting out for the break on transition (even leading it sometimes) like he never has before and finishing. He's driving to the basket with results, and hitting the 3's when he has to. He's also moving without the ball on a more frequent basis and is no longer glued to the floor in the corner waiting for a pass.
I'd like to see better midrange shooting from Gallo, and some moves in the post, but I don't think anyone can be upset with how he has been playing recently.
Hopefully guys continue to step up, and Amare continues his good play, but for me Gallo and Felton are the key players who will ultimately determine how good this team is going to be.
